New meats ring head fitted
New meats ring head fitted
Hi everyone I have a 2.8 injection 1981
Had a problem after having the engine rebuilt with no6 over fuelling so had another metering head reconditioned by well known Capri specialist, fitted the unit car stats but doesn’t run any ideas

Re: New meats ring head fitted. Interesting things to do with a meat ring ?
It could be a temporary restraint just for shipping. Personally, I would say that if you dont remember a clip like that on the old one and you cannot see it on any photos or diagrams that you are able to search for then this is most likely the case.
If it can be removed safely without bits springing out all over the place or the clip being destroyed in the process there would seem little harm in trying to carefully remove it.
If in doubt ask the place that reconditioned the metering head if it is their normal practice to send out recon units with a temporary clip in place that should be removed.

Hi,
Does the plunger fall far enough to sit on the arm in the air duct at it's lowest position?
If not, I would say remove it, but as Peter says, post up a photo so we can be sure.
I suspect that the clip is simply there to stop the plunger falling out of the metering head before it's been fitted in position in the car.
Andrew.
