Walton Bridge Breakfast Meet 24/2/2019

Post by Fordoholic Nick »

Hi all,

Well my first meet of 2019, my first convoy with John in 2019 and my first ever time to Walton Bridge Breakfast Meet !!! Been meaning to get to this for a while and was well worth the early start. Great little meet. Was a glorious morning albeit a very damp, cold and misty start. What is it with me and misty starts !! On arrival at WB it was mega busy. We had to circle the oark up area twice before finally getting parked up together. Guy beside john left so i scrambled and got B112 parked up beside him !!! There was an amazing turnout of a variety of classics !! Johns Capri really is a credit to him. Its just soooo stunning !!!!!! On the way down there i was behind him en convoy and his new fuel tank looks superb !!! I will let john tell you more but hes had a small bit of work done which all looks hus already stunning Special look even more 'special' !! Met up with a mate from fb too with his 2.0S which was great. Had a good chat with him about his plans to get more from his pinto.

Anyway i will try my hand at loading some pics via postimage as flickr is really playing up now. For now i will just post pics without description to save time.

Here goes starting with The Lacquer Red Twins

Hi Nick,
What a great day for a meet and a good selection of cars too :D Yours and Johns both look great

As it's been over 3 months since it last ran, I thought I would start mine this morning.....
Wrong!!! Flat battery even though it's been disconnected :?
So a quick 3 hour charge and she fired up for a trip down the driveway :lowrider:
Fuel guage is reading completely different to the last time it ran  So now I'm 100%, the new tank and sender will being fitted before any long trips this year!!

Hi Nick,
Great photos, as always! 8-)
It looks like both you and John had a brilliant morning out, there were some great cars at WB. Both the lacquer red twins look stunning, although it looks like one of the owners doesn't adhere to "keep clear" road markings....
Thanks again for uploading the pics...you've really whetted my appetite now for the upcoming show season.

Andrew.

Hi All,

Just a quick little addition to the pics Nick has posted. As there was loads there to see.... And even getting there for approx 08:30, it was still a nightmare to park up, let alone park up next to each other....

Anyhow, here goes with a few additions... I'll start with Nick's.....
As we can see from this pic, Nick really is concerned about Doors being opened into the side of his car. He has a nice big Keep Clear to one side and a Metal railing to the other!!!! :xd: :xd: :xd: Well spotted Andrew....
Image20190224_085859 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Then once we got parked up next to each other, I got a quick back end pic. If you look very closely, you can just make out the Brand New Petrol tank hiding away underneath mine.... I had already had the original fixed a few years ago, but alas it started smelling a bit, so time was ready for a new one....
Image20190224_091557 by jon taylor, on Flickr
I will admit the new Silver tank does set the rear off better than the black tank I had.... IMO....

Well, on wards and upwards as they say. so here is Nick just checking this wasn't any cleaner than his.... I think that washer bottle could do with a spruce up???
Image20190224_095850 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Another cracking Ford here.... And well used which is great to see....
Image20190224_095934 by jon taylor, on Flickr

There was a few of these Cortina's there but I only seem to have snapped this one!!! But what a cracker!!!
Image20190224_095633 by jon taylor, on Flickr

And another late arrival!!!
Image20190224_092850 by jon taylor, on Flickr

One last Brit Ford and what a cracker, a very original Escort 1600 S.... Nice....
Image20190224_090328 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Well, now onto the American Fords then.... Here we go.....
And what a way to start!!! This was amazing, the colour was incredible!!!!
Image20190224_093942 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Its Brother??? Again very nice and well presented.....
Image20190224_092919 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Not a Ford, but it sure is American Muscle!!!!
Image20190224_101333 by jon taylor, on Flickr

So another Country then and what a way to do it!!!
Image20190224_095658 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Well, we'll circle back to the Brits again then.... A good turn out for Lotus was here this morning....
Image20190224_095711 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Image20190224_085038 by jon taylor, on Flickr

You just can't help but love these.....
Image20190224_095553 by jon taylor, on Flickr

And now a car I always wanted to drive when I was a lot younger and these were new... The Turbo S....
Image20190224_090110 by jon taylor, on Flickr
Image20190224_090118 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Well, I'll stop for a break here, just one last thing. Just for Nick as he's not seen his car from behind since the suspension works. Also I seem to have lost sound, so a bit boring for all else, as you can't here The Sisters of Mercy...
ImageNick M25 Part 1 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Enjoy Nick, I've downloaded a few clips for you, but as you're probably aware, I had to get quite close to get the best shots!!!

I hope you all enjoy these as it was a disgustingly early start and I'm not a morning person!!!! Cheers all for now,

John...

Hi chaps,

Thanks for the comments and kind words. Much appreciated. Really enjoyed this morning especially meeting up with John. Twas a cold, damp and misty start at 0645am but the sun soon shone through for a beautiful setting beside The Thames with a fantastic array of classic cars and bikes !!
andyd wrote:So now I'm 100%, the new tank and sender will being fitted before any long trips this year!!
Andy, getting a brand new tank/sender will give you great peace of mind mate....and judging by Johns new tank it will look the bollocks too ! Driving behind him this morning his Capri looks even better from the rear !!! Really transforns his backside !!! He was complaining he will have to keep it clean now....the fuel tank I mean
Jasonmarie wrote:Look like a good trip out for you both Yes was foggy first thing this morning but sunny now , can’t wait to see what John has done also some great looking cars there , and always mate B112 looking good as always .
Thanks Jason. Was worried with the mist and rapid build up of dew first thing  but it gave me a chance to test my rear demisters for first time in a long time and 90% of them still work!! Walton Bridge is a great little meet mate.
Andrew 2.8i wrote:although it looks like one of the owners doesn't adhere to "keep clear" road markings....
  Yep I parked across the keep clear gate first thing after John nabbed a spot...but then I did move it :) to another keep clear spot to be next to John
Thanks for your kind words too mate. Glad you enjoyed the pics and yep its deffo wetted my appetite too for the shows/meets to follow. Roll on Spring. Roll on Summer !

That's funny cos last spring someone talked me in to going to a seafront car show. When I washed the car before hand I put my finger through the bumper by the plastic nearside corner :(
Anyway, a fiver on ebay got this

I bought mine of a guy in work about 6yrs ago. Its a new repro one.paid £30 for it. Thought as it about time I prepped and painted it to fit it before Jason and his dad find any more faults with my bumper

I sprayed mine gloss black !!! Turned out pretty nice....

Image

Have ordered a new front one as well and will paint up the same gloss black along with the front grill :)

Cheers Peter
