Not sure, but I'm pretty certain the Mk1 had a narrower track?

That might not matter as Im really just wanting the actual rack ,mine is rust pitted, and I want a x member to mod to fit an electric power steering rack .

Well as I'm now Capri-less it'll be hard for me to help you.
May I suggest asking for a few known measurements from owners of M1s and Mk2/3s may help you.
I wonder if the Mk1 rack may fit with the Mk3 tie rods, but then that may introduce odd Ackerman angles etc.

Hi MC,

Yep fits no problem, I put a Mark 1 3 GXL X member and steering rack on a Mark 3 3 litre ghia - No issues aside from the obvious heavy steering afterwards

Hey thanks Wayne , somebody is wreaking a mk1 3L , I already have the diff and am bidding on a pair of broardspeed alloy rocker covers for the 3L essex motor , so I'll see if I cant lassoo the x member and rack .
I dont have a 3L motor but I think I polish them up and hock em off.

That's a nice set of valve covers, haven't seen a set of them before
