Handbrake warning light not working ..

Post by r2vdh »

Hi all. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the mk3 handbrake warning light?

New bulb fitted
Check connections on clock and bulb pcb.
Switch earths when handbrake is raised..

All other dash lights work fine how does the brake light get its 12v feed.

Scratching my head at the moment..

Have you tried pressing the rubber dome on the resservoir cap, as IIRC, that tests the low fluid warning (and is same light as handbrake)?

Hello mate,
This is the diagram I’ve been working from. I currently have my whole dash and instrument panel out so let me know if you need a wire tracing!

If you have the dash out try applying voltage to the tracks leading to it - I found that my lamp holder was a little temperamental and it would only work with a bit of tin foil added.

Try swapping the lamp holder between the oil switch and handbrake warning light. If the radio or lower dash are out you may be able to reach in with the ignition on and wiggle it until it seats properly and becomes live.

Thanks for the response. Found a broken wire between the servo and the dash. Repaired and all working. 😁
