Pinto turbo Manifold - Modded standard Manifold?

Post by DaveSimpy »

Hello gang,

I have been thinking of modding the standard pinto manifold for turbo. I thought about getting a t25 flange welded onto a shortened downpipe or potentially buy U pipe from ebay and get that welded to the downpipe and then a flange on the other end.

I have a 1.6 laser and wanted to play with a blow through set up. I already have the janspeed weber dgas plenum to enclose the carb.

As long as physical constraints are taken care of i.e space in the engine bay room for pipes etc can you see any reason why a modded manifold won't work. I have done some research regarding turbo distance from the block and that seems ok. I am not looking for mega boost to start of with and realise I will need an electric fuel pump, pressure regulators and injectors as it leans out. At this point I want to see if I can get it to work and then progress.

As always, your thoughts are always appreciated.

Cheers, Dave
