Modified Capri

Post by pbar »

I've seen this in the CCI magazine but this is the first time I've seen it in the flesh, heavily modifed Capri, it certainly had plenty of attention.

Hi Paul.

Great photos mate. I seen this Capri a couple of times in the flesh and you really get a sense of the quality of work involved in this modification. I personally think its been done very well indeed and really was impressed with it. Both front and rear ends look fantastic. Superbly designed and you can see alot of tbought has gone into it. Whilst the front end does not necessarily really shout out "Capri" the rear end defiantly does. Lovely wheels too. If i recall it sits pretty low too. It has such a presence and its easy to see why it attracts so much attention even if some of the comments/views might be harshly negative not being to some purists taste I think the Capri world NEEDS modified cars like this and the famous Goblin Works Capri. I love it.!

Tbanks for posting the pics Paul and hope you had a great day.

All the best mate

Nick

Thanks Nick :) You are so right about it being low, goodness me! Someone did tell me (neutral show punter) that he really liked it, so it's not all haters. It didn't shout out Capri to me I have to admit, it is strikingly different I thought.

I`d rather have the Cortina TBH. It`s really well executed, but to me it just loses all the elegance and beauty of the basic Capri shape. Very clever though. Can`t work out if they`ve made the rear quarter bigger or shrunk the rear windows?

I agree with you Steve, I'd have the Cortina too :) But here are a few more pics including an info sheet.

Steve, I'm sure I remember reading that the roof line is dropped so smaller screen and side windows as a result. As others have said, clever but not for me.

Thanks Peter, that explains it. It just makes the rear quarters look really bloated. Not for me either

Yep just as Peter has said its been chopped. I read a great article on this in Classic Ford Mag few yrs back. The amount of work and attention to detail that went into it was amazing and the owner did most of the bodywork himself. Amazing how low it actually sits. Heres a couple of pics to add to Paul's great ones to give a different viewpoint of how low it really is and one of its, rear end which I really do love. Hope you don't mind Paul :)

I still think it "whispers" loud enough that its a Capri

Oh my god it's horrid, it successfully loses everything that made the Mk3 gorgeous, sometimes you just have to admit that Ford got it right the first time.

Seen that car online before, like it or not you can't knock the work that's gone into it.

Very 6th gen Mustang looking, so personally I would have put a V8 in it (Or a Pinto, the best engine in the world)

Great photos, Paul.
It's inevitable that opinions will differ a heavily modified Capri.
I can see that a lot of high-quality work has gone into creating this, but I definitely prefer a factory original look.

Andrew.

Thanks for all the replies. As others have said, the work carried out is certainly something to appreciate and admire. But I do prefer the original cars. The chap/owner seemed very nice, modest and willing to chat.
