Mates 2.8
Mates 2.8
He picked this up yesterday after 7 years in a barn, I took it there with him in 2014!
C reg, think he's the 3rd owner and it's done around 55k from new.
He plans to restore it having collected many new and good used parts several years ago before some prices sky rocketed

He bought it from his Dad about 10 years ago, can't remember what he paid but a bargain now.
He's also into BMWs and does track days, so knowing him he will change his mind and sell the Capri at some point
Just got his Fiesta RS Turbo back and working on that to sell I think!

Nope, The best engine in the world is a 426 Hemi, a beautiful, vicious bastard of an engine, closely followed by the 440, nuff said.Mc Tool wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 9:49 pmIs anyone else actually starting to think he might be right ?Jasonmarie wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 11:52 am I thought he might update the engine to a pinto , as it’s the Best Engine in the world

Re: Mates 2.8
Yeah , Id agree with that , never really had anything to do with them but I bought workshop manuals for a, b and rb engines , hemi engine and max wedge engines, just for a read . I always intended on getting a 440 6 pack engine for an old Rambler I owned but then some guy offered stupid money for it and I couldn't find a windscreen for it so I let him have it and moved on to Escorts and CapriMr B wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 11:31 pmNope, The best engine in the world is a 426 Hemi, a beautiful, vicious bastard of an engine, closely followed by the 440, nuff said.Mc Tool wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 9:49 pmIs anyone else actually starting to think he might be right ?Jasonmarie wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 11:52 am I thought he might update the engine to a pinto , as it’s the Best Engine in the world

Re: Mates 2.8
Considering how long the car has been off the road it doesn't look bad.
It will be nice to see another Capri returned to the road.
Andrew.

It's been washed since the photo was taken so probably looks better now. Front wing was damaged prior to storage and caused by the diff exploding and spinning it into the central reservation barrier on dual carriageway
As I said he has all the parts to sort it but how long it will take him who knows

Hi Andy,
I remember you mentioning that incident before, but I didn't put two and two together. It looks like quite a lucky escape really, as there appears to be little damage to the bodywork.
This restoration will be quite something when it's done, and how fortunate that your friend accumulated all the parts required when they were cheaper and easier to come by!
Andrew.
