Re: My mum

I don't believe you get over it - but life goes on and you do learn to live with it. Spot on, all of that! You learn to cope with the hole, but it never goes away. But then I don`t think you`d want it to.? 100% You'll never lose your memories, and I try and look forward all the time but sometimes t...

Re: Capri Among The Best....

I must say they are dissappearing fast now aren't they, there's a lot of crap around for silly money. Doesn't matter what you buy whether it's 2k or 10k, they all need a 20k restoration and that's a Conservative estimate to make show quality. I'd it was my I'd but a tatty body with all the right pa...

Re: Capri Among The Best....

I'm a bit surprised that there is no Escort in there at all but, Capri aside, they've gone relatively new. No doubt newer tech is better but they don't appeal so much to me. Lotus Cortina or is that not really Ford? I think they’ve focused heavily on performance and driving dynamics which is why th...

Re: What is it with oil

I think part of it will be personal opinion surely? One 'specialist' might say only use 20/50, another may say only 10/40 and the last will tell you to leave him alone and put WD40 in it for all he cares - I would imagine if you are an 'expert - however that is defined - you would still end up disa...

Re: A nice day at last!

A good deal milder today with some sunshine too so a good excuse to throw the cover off the 2.8 and give it a run up. It's not going anywhere for a while yet though especially as half the dash is out whilst I look at the tape deck! https://i.postimg.cc/CKBjhbtx/DSC-0400.jpg Hi Peter, Quick question...

Re: What is it with oil

I was thinking about this the other day actually. The Focus and the two Fiestas were all built within three years of each other (give or take) and all take a different grade of oil. The Focus takes a (pricey!) 0W-40, the ST200 takes 5W-30 and the MK8 takes 5W-20. Fortunately the ST200 is fine on 5W-...

Re: Underbody clean up - 2021 recommendations

Garden railings don't tend to flex Hi Martin, hope you're keeping well. Garden gates do flex/spring quite a bit, especially larger ones and/or those made with thinner material. Certainly, double gates I used to have at one point sprung and flexed quite a bit. A neighbour has a single gate covering ...

Re: Underbody clean up - 2021 recommendations

I am not such a fan of the paint on Waxoyl as it always seemed to go harder and then be liable to crack and let moisture in under it. The same would possibly apply to Hammerite. Garden railings don't tend to flex like the body of a car would, so may give a slightly false impression. Everyone will h...

I’m no leftie (as many of you are aware!) but Tom and Hamish both make valid points. I’ve no idea where we’re heading as a society, are the clowns in charge simply incompetent beyond belief or do they actually know exactly what they’re doing? Who knows, but either way the future doesn’t look particu...

Re: Mulled wine..

In my last year of Uni I shared a flat with a Spanish girl. Her friends were coming over one evening so I made (a large quantity of) sangria. Me being me I used a 14% Malbec and rather over did it with the Bacardi.... The result was that I got to spend the evening with five thoroughly inebriated sen...

Re: DeLorean: Back From the Future

I have seen a couple of doco,s on the story, what a drama and at the end of it all there was only this unattractive ,poorly performing ludicrously expensive kit car . Its only real point of difference (and dont nobody pipe up about the flux capacitor neither 😁) is the stainless body fascards. Its l...
