Re: another ebay bargain

Hi Mike,
Good spot! :)
I couldn't believe what I was reading on that Ebay listing!
There's no end to this Ebay madness is there? I wouldn't be surprised to see used toilet paper up for sale next!

Thanks,
That clears that one up. I had a feeling that the 1.1 wasn't fitted with a CVH, but I had mine such a long time ago I couldn't remember exactly.

Re: Greetings from Sweden!

Hi,
Welcome to the forum. :welcome:
Very nice Capri you have there, I like the sound of a 2.9 turbo! :burnout:
Are there many Capris in Sweden? They must be a lot of fun on the snowy winter roads! :)
Look forward to seeing more pics as the build progresses. 8-)

All the best,
Andrew.

Re: iffy fuel gauge

Hi, To put your mind at rest that the actual fuel gauge in the dash is OK, you can remove the two wires from the sender in the tank and touch them together. The gauge should read full. If this is the case, the problem is most likely with the float sticking. You could try cleaning the terminals on th...

Re: iffy fuel gauge

Hi Neil, Being a 2.8 owner myself, I would say that it is unlikely that you are getting fantastic MPG! :) It sounds to me as if the float on the fuel sender is stuck in one position. This is likely because the car hasn't had much use recently, has it? The chances are that if the float is stuck, it c...

Re: Capri 280 Brooklands for sale by auction 31st May

Hi Marco,
No worries. As long as the bidding is available to view online, I will be able to report back the final sale price. A friend of mine was planning to go to the auction, but unfortunately he can't attend now.

Re: Ragley Hall show 25th May

Hi Dave,
Great pics, thanks for posting. I know I always say this, but the Capris look to be a very high standard, they all look superb in the pics. 8-) The Ragley Hall website says that over 600 classics were expected to attend, so I imagine you had a lot to look at!

Tried Martin at Caprigear for used ones? I doubt you'll be able to get new ones anywhere.

Re: Speedo readings

Hi,

So, in theory, if 80's wanted a more accurate speedo he could replace the 22 tooth speedo drive gear in the 'box? Would the 23 tooth gear give a more or less accurate reading than the 22 tooth?
My brain hurts........ :?

They charge per plug too, so the more cylinders you have the more it will cost.... Well, you learn something new everyday! :) Off topic, but does anyone know how used coolant is supposed to be disposed of these days? My local recycling place hasn't got a section for this. We all know were...

Hi,
Is that for real? I haven't heard of that before, is that for recycling or because of contamination?

Re: spark plug changin?

I suppose it would be possible to use a long reach socket of the correct size, if it's long enough for the plug to fit in it, but I've always used the correct tool. The socket will look something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Halfords-professional-advanced-spark-plug-sockets-10mm-and-14mm-Go-...

80s kid wrote:Whats the diffence to a spark plug sockett to a normal socket of the right size?
The spark plug socket usually has a rubber ring inserted in it so it doesn't damage the ceramic of the spark plug. Some socket sets have the plug socket included, have you checked?
