Re: Strut rebuild , roller top mounts or standard ?
:) Yeah ,springs that are to short for proper fit will move about ,wether they are made short or just sacked out, which is why I mentioned the shorter Gaz shocks....specially designed for shorter springs :banghead: :xd: . I guess too that with roller top mounts springs that are on the threshold of c...

Re: Strut rebuild , roller top mounts or standard ?
Can't see how it makes a difference what brand of spring you use they still don't rotate with the strut.Cant be a coincidence that anyone twerking or racing escorts and capris fit roller top mounts fairly early in the evolution of the build . Burton supply Gaz inserts that are made to fit strut assy...

Re: Strut rebuild , roller top mounts or standard ?
Either 1/4" or about 3/4" depending on how you arrange the spacer kit on the strut.

Re: Strut rebuild , roller top mounts or standard ?
The mounts I got are mp167 And the bush kit is mp180 Hot tip, when Burton's refer to large hole and small hole top mounts they are refering to the size of the hole in the inner guard under the bonnet that the mount bolts into ....not the size of the hole in the bearing that the strut fits thru . The...

Re: Diff carrier bearings
Yep Def sounds like a loose pinion . What happens is under load the pinion get pushed toward the front of the diff which allows the c/wheel and pinion mesh to go wild. When you lift off the throttle the pinion is then dragged towards the rear of the diff . If the pinion nut gets loose enough the pin...

Re: Dash Lighting
Blue , I think , and they tend to crumble and disintegrate over time, heat from the bulb didn't help , so there may only be remains left. Remembering that the dash lite dimmer will no longer work you might want to think about just how bright you want the dash to be . Over bright gets real hard on th...

Re: Capri 2.8i mudflaps
Dave , once the rubber has deteriorated to the point that it has split .....I don't think there is much you can do . Any repair should be considered temporary . Is there any way ( depends on where the crack is ) that you could get a bit of stainless sheet that could be made to look like a custom bra...

Re: Strut rebuild , roller top mounts or standard ?
They will lighten the steering a bit . I got top mounts with a bearing mounted in rubber so you get the benefit of a bearing without the harshness of a solid mount ( got em off Burton's ), I can't get past the fact that when steering the springs get wound up one way and down the other :headscratch: ...

For small print I use my phone camera hooked up to the telly, I stuck an old fag packet to the pH to hold it level and a consistent distance from the type , then just move it round like a mouse

Re: Hi Spec 285mm brake woes
I bought my willwood set up as a kit with all the mounts ect, I would think that if another sized m/cyl was needed it would have been in the kit , or at least some mention of it . Pads are important , don't be tempted to go for race pads ,or even track day pads for a road car ,you will be disappoint...

Re: Rear window trim
Oh there are a few extroverts out there ( you know , stupid hair do , face full of metal ) fortunately very few of them would know coolness if it bit them on the arse (watch out for studs ) and thusly tend not to have Capris. But your right ,Matt/satin black is probly correct for most Capri trims , ...
