Re: Thinking of selling up
Thanks for the support. Its basically a good car let down only by scabby bonnet lip and usual blisters forming around sunroof. Plus of course let down by me not using it. If it goes then the only thing that will end up in it's garage place will be household junk - so perhaps that's a good enough rea...

Just realised I posted this under my old account.
Didn't realise it still worked! Can I join my two accounts together or anything?

Re: weather strip!!
Hmm, the weather strip pushes into clips on the black metal door finishing capping... doesn't it? So maybe that is slightly bent and needs reshaping?

Re: weather strip!!
3mm isn't very much. Is it the original strip? If so it has probably had it after years of exposure to sunlight and isn't felxible enough to seal properly anymore. You can get replacement lengths from the Capri club or other trim suppliers.

Come one, what 15" wheels are they and where will they come from?
Re: unleaded
If you leave the timing set for 98 octane 4-star, then you will need to use one of the additives with an octane booster, e.g. use Castrol Valvemaster Plus, instead of the standard Valvemaster product. I have been using Valvemaster Plus 11 years on standard ingition timing and have never had problems...

Re: Overheating Capri 2.0s
Think the capacity is about 10 pints, but the Haynes manual will have the exact figure.
Fill through the radiator cap, the bottle is just an expansion tank.
Once filled run at idle with the cap off, squeeze hoses and keep topping up as any airlocks clear.

I'll add a third vote for that, have had similar problems myself.

Re: just lost a debate about there never being a mk3 capri
Er, there was never a "Mk" 2 either.
As far as Ford naming is concerned there was only ever:
Capri, a two door coupe
Capri II, a three door hatchback

Yes, do it.
You would be gutted if someone rear-ended it tomorrow and all you got was book value!

Re: From A to B Tales of Modern Motoring
I actually remember that slightly batty woman and "Leroy". How strange that I remember that. Why is my brain full of such useless dross like that? and while I'm at it, there's a Maestro diesel that I see in Twickenham sometimes, but whoever owns it has taken pride in it, with a "Perki...

Re: What bushes to get?
TCA inner bushes are all same size.
Measure the thickness of your ARB though, various sizes fitted. Some late Lasers ended up with the thicker bar from the 2.8i. This affects the ARB to chassis bush size.
I would speak to Burton's verbally rather than trying to pick and choose from the website.

Re: dash switches.
The oft-maligned Capri Club International do (or did) at one point a "club centre console" which filled in the gap between the dash where the ashtray is and the clock on the standard Ford console. It was mainly so that you could fit an extra amplifier or other bit of ICE stuff, but you cou...

Re: is there a moddern alternative to the capri???!!
Yeah, nice bit of thread resurrection. It's interesting because since 2002 things have changed even more. All the big manufacturers have given up on this segment of the market now; Calibra, Probe, Fiat Coupe, Cougar, Puma, Peuguot 406 coupe (remember that?) all gone now. They were the modern version...
