I personally think on your car you would have less problems if you threw away all the standard bits and modded the lot! :)
Noooooo, don't suggest that! I think I'm having an anxiety attack.

Yes it is, it's unbelieveable. Nothing like the black noisy smelly lumps I'm used to seeing down there.

All the Ford literature seems to contradict that though? Usually citing 10/40 as bang in the middle for the oil of choice. With 20/50 to not even be used in heavy freezing.

Wow, that's fantastic! I've often taken boating holidays (Norfolk Broads), love it. Never had an engine in any of mine like that though. That's not original to the boat, surely?

Re: broke down again

He also said there is a wire that goes up the car which reduces the voltage from 12v to start up to the 9v to run again i dont fully understand yet. That's the reason I mentioned in the other thread today, when you asked about electronic replacement points. Those need a constant 12v supply, a lot o...

Re: broke down again

Just dont get if its an electric fault why it dont play up all the time? When things have a fault there is often no rhyme, reason or logic to it. All of the hardest to find faults are random ones, once you can recreate it at will, then you're well on the way to fixing it. I believe the term for a f...

Wow, this is the best thing ever! Looks like a filter error, you can have certain words replaced automatically. Usually for foul language.

Re: would this be ok for my 2.0 capri?

Points are more reliable, in that when they become worn and knackered the car will still run, albeit not as well. Whereas when they go wrong you've had it. Your issue is likely to be something else. Although if you insist on an electronic points replacement, the Accuspark kit seems to be popular. Yo...

Re: broke down again

Perhaps go with your other intention of removing some fuel, see what a difference it makes. Or put a small amount of fuel down the carb and see if it springs to life. If so, it could be the carb at fault then.

Me too. I do believe that's what Ford recommended also. They would void your camshaft warranty if you didn't use it even.

Perhaps you should follow your instinct with that? And maybe test the fuel pump etc.
