Re: The Electric Vehicle experience..

Yeah emergency services will be exempt I reckon. It'll be a bit hard running a fire engine's pumps and cutting gear for hours in the middle of nowhere without an engine. Planes will be using fossil fuels for the foreseeable as you can fill a plane up with fuel for a long trip and it is beyond its we...

Re: What?

So, conclusive proof from the man in the street that Brexit was right/wrong after all  Sorry Peter, not sure what you mean by that. But so far, this man in the street would say it's made no difference to him either way. Unless he wants to buy model cars from one German website. He was joking :D

Re: My 2.0S

I have rear seats now! But a few other missing bits, like all the soundproofing and carpets and a load of interior and exterior trim. About a ton I reckon, maybe less. As you say Noel it'd be great to get it on a weighbridge, missed my chance when Essex police were pulling over all the shabby lookin...

It looks great, understated but with definite purpose. How does your fuel consumption compare with standard ?
I got 195 miles out of a tank, so not great  it does get thrashed though. It's going on the rollers in a fortnight so we'll see if that makes any difference!

My dad's a Yorkshireman, so all of those cars he probably had nightmares about  he never had anything with an engine over 1.3l until three years ago.

I agree, like I say the tech is in its infancy, but I doubt the issues will be sorted in 8 1/2 years! Time will tell though

Lada Samara death by sandwich

..I just saw.a video of one and it reminded me of a funny story. I swear this is true  I had one, a FWD 1.5 Samara Sprite, UK version with upgraded trim which made it look slightly decent actually. Nice to work on, so high off the ground you didn't need a jack to get under it, just park it on a...

Re: The Electric Vehicle experience..

Welcome to the modern world Tom ,a place where truth and practicality will never stand in the way of a deceitful self serving government 🐂 :turd: Would you consider posting your story somewhere others can read it , just that I think the average Joe doesnt realise just what a crock of shit the EV ro...

Re: The Electric Vehicle experience..

It wouldn't surprise me if government bully drivers into EV by making petrol/diesel vehicle laws and costs more awkward or expensive :spank: I would rather give up my licence and walk! I think the government is more interested in stimulating the retail industry and bringing in a bit of desperately ...

Re: The Electric Vehicle experience..

Thanks for taking the time to write that - very, very interesting. There really are going to be `challenging` times ahead. I can see people choosing to hang on to their petrol vehicles for some time after 2030. About that very point, Julie Ann remarked over a pre-bedtime beer that same evening, tha...

The Electric Vehicle experience..

..In front of a PC now. As promised, the EV comedy of errors. Okay, so Julie Ann hired a Hyundai Iconiq months ago. You get 500 free miles a month. We had friends down in Brighton and being run by the Green Party, I assumed the town would cater for EVs. Brighton's 90 miles from hers, the battery was...

Re: Who's laughing now....

but the government may make it hard to run an older car to push you away from them, either very high petrol and diesel prices, put tax up to £1000 a year or scrap the current 40 year tax/MOT exemption :? The government want to push people away from non-environmental cars now, but they still do the ...

Re: Who's laughing now....

I drove an EV to Brighton a few months ago. When I'm in front of a keyboard, I'll explain more fully with all the stress and amusement, rowdy teenagers and the Apollo 13 level power management, but for now, I can say with a high degree of certainty that there isn't much to worry about. There is no w...
