Re: No power!

TBH, it sounds just as if something has been left on and flattened the battery? Even if the battery was on its last legs, (but it started OK so that`s unlikely) it shouldn`t , in a couple of hours, go so flat that the clock stops (that would be probably 9v or less) Charge the battery, then ideally c...

Re: Rear wheel arch rust

A friend tried filling the lips with filler. After only a few months it started to crack and allow moisture to get in behind it. That's why I went with grease instead. :agree: Grease is much better, re-seals itself and creeps into any crevices/cracks. Plus, once a year you can just wipe it away and...

Re: Rear wheel arch rust

As above: I`d imagine you could use an outer arch panel to fabricate repair sections for the inner panel, the radii will be similar, then another to repair the outer. As said, the build up of mud/salt/water on the ledge formed by the lip is probably main cause of corrosion, pressure washing (I have ...

Re: pics of engine bay clips?

Are these any use? There are no further supports after clip in pic 3, the pipe is just secured there and at the point where it passes through inner wing. It`s rigid enough for that distance https://i.postimg.cc/FRKW9qx1/DSC02907.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/T1LtbDF6/DSC02910.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/bYZ...

Just for reference capris made in 1986 don’t have the paint code sticker in the boot it’s a square label that makes no sense .
Ditto 1984, mine says XSC1056 - which is Strato Silver. (The car is, and always has been, Mineral Blue) Weird!

TBH, you`d be as well just going to Halfords and getting an assortment box of self-tappers, with all different sizes, heads, non white, crosshead slots etc. They`re always useful things to have.

Anyone remember them? You mean these? https://i.postimg.cc/bJzZdqcp/DSC02904.jpg Handy but the film was just too small for great quality. (just noticed there`s a film still in it, must be 30+ years out of date.) I also remember a mate who was into photography getting a Zenith SLR, they were quite r...

Re: Who Remembers?

Anyone remember this type of radio from back in the day? Certainly do Paul! There used to be pages of ads for such things in the back pages of the Mirror , several short bands plus aircraft, marine. A lot seemed to be russian. (Zenith???) I`m sure, in the very early `70s, weren`t the police on FM, ...

Re: Non starting fuel issue

Although unlikely, could it just be that the new pump needs priming? Maybe try pouring some fuel into it from the carb end so it`s full of fuel rather than air. There`s not really much at all to go wrong with the mechanical fuel pump, yet here we are ;) Edit: just re-read Peter`s reply: the pushrod ...

I thought they just O.D`d? Unless you know something we don`t ;) ;)

I notice not one of you mentioned the passing of Biggie and Tupac, I find that very strange.

Thinking about it, mine is a mk2, so should i have the relay with four fuses?
Wasnt that for the mk3 double lights?
I think you`re right. I would give Martin a ring as he will be able to supply you with correct part.

Re: Battery cable shorted out

I figure the wire has rubbed down on the bodywork somewhere and earthed itself, but it was getting dark and i couldn't tell. Does this seem plausible? Yes that`s most likely, or a fault in fusebox etc, anything that`s not fused. I believe, or at least `someone said,` that the thin black lead you`re...
