Re: Capri hot start problem

Welcome to the forum, sorry to hear about your brother. I don't know how experienced you are obviously, so please forgive me if this is obvious to you, but you are aware of the start up procedures on these cars? For instance, for a warm/hot start you would usually hold the accelerator part way down ...

Re: Who Remembers?

Great stuff Andy, would never be allowed now. Channel 7 on freeview are showing the original Kenny Everett TV show, and in each one there is a Hot Gossip routine. He calls it the naughty bit, probably was back then, quite lame now but strangely it wouldn't be allowed. Go figure!

Try sitting the car on its wheels ,doing it on its side or upside down will only make it harder.

Make sure you use a socket with only 6 internal sides

That's excellent advice, definitely second that.

Re: Stuck Inner TCA Bolt/ Balljoint Nut

After using all the various tools I was shown a far simpler method. Use a long bar to apply downwards force on the TCA. Then use a large percussive adjuster (hammer if you will) and smack the side of the lug that the tapered joint tightens into. It creates just enough momentary distortion to loosen...

Re: Fuel issue

How does that work then? Pumping the pedal surely just operates the accelerator pump diaphragm? If the carb is empty that'll make no odds? Exactly what I was thinking, there has to be fuel in the carb to begin with, for the pumping-pedal to have an effect. Surely turning the car over using the star...

And here's the nut splitter device, used these numerous times, far easier than drilling out.

Re: Stuck Inner TCA Bolt/ Balljoint Nut

ball joint splitter. These type make for an incredibly easy and neat method. Also, they don't seem to damage the dust boot like some of the other methods. With an old car you will most likely have the suspension apart numerous times, collecting an army of tools and gadgets is extremely handy, as it...

Re: Stuck Inner TCA Bolt/ Balljoint Nut

As said, either wiggle that bolt free if you can by wiggling everything that will wiggle! And if no joy, just cut it off and replace from the other side (better than messing around with steering rack I think, that could invite other issues). For the nut, (as Steve suggests) google Nut Splitter. This...

Cheers, you're welcome :) If you did need another connector let me know, I'm sure I can find the seller of the one in the pic, you can ask them for the sizes of the terminals etc. to see if it would fit, alternatively might be better to ask Martin first at CapriGear if he has o...
