Re: Hello...lost laser making a comeback

Now where was I...oh yes, foetal position, sobbing... so out with the whizzy wheel and let see how deep this rabbit hole goes :? 20200518_151254small.jpg It appears that there's....no inner sill, no left floor, no right floor, no floor bung and not a huge amount over the chassis rail. So that's gone...

Re: Bumper Bolts

They were from Amazon, I was in the middle of lockdown so I just had them sent to me and it was much cheaper than using the ones from the Capri club. They look just like the ones I took off, but not snapped and rusty. Lick of satin black sorted the silver finish. And finding something the same size ...

Re: Bumper Bolts

That’s what I did, just used coach bolts. The “coach” square part was too big to fit the bumper hole but I filed it down to fit so it held in snug and tightened up. Painted satin black and they look just like the O/E. I had no issue with the bolt head size, it was the same as the O/E ones.

Don't suppose there's even a fighting chance chance of side body trims or a driver seat?

Re: Hello...lost laser making a comeback

Its important to note, I am not a mechanic. Or a fabricator. Or a metal worker. Or an engineer. I've pretty much just picked things up as I went along. As such don't use anything here as guidance as how to rebuild anything. Because you should always use a professional who is competent to do repairs....

Re: Hello...lost laser making a comeback

It had stood 15 yrs in storage and another few covered in the garage at this point and is in a shocking state compared to how it looked when I put it away  . Re: Hello...lost laser making a comeback

Thanks for that, very interesting. Certainly in all the years I’ve known the car (including previous owners) it has had the faster rated tyres (currently on some goodyears which are perished to death) and every tyre site I plug the reg into it spits out a H rated tyre before happily telling me they ...

Re: Hello...lost laser making a comeback

You never know with a sturdy tailwind... :xd: those 72 rampant horses will propel that tonne of pig iron to terrifying velocities :o I’m not overly concerned that the tyres will fling themselves to pieces, but it was hatched with H rated 185, 70, 13’s and if that’s what uncle Henry said it should ha...

Re: Hello...lost laser making a comeback

It’s the speed rating that’s the problem. I want H rated tyres (or faster). Several manufacturers make T rated which I guess are still made as trailer or caravan tyres but that’s too slow (not that a 1.6 will ever really trouble the upper end of a T rated tyre for long). There are a couple of manufa...

Hello...lost laser making a comeback

Morning all, Found my way here eventually, I usually sneaked in occasionally to look for information so I thought I’d better join in. Brief history: I had my laser for a couple of years but around the late 90s it was getting towards the end of its suitable daily driver life. It was becoming very cru...
