Re: Type 9 (N) gearbox lock up
I'm probably not much help because when my gearbox broke I just bought a new one If it helps though I think I still have that old gearbox in someone's shed if you want it? Was a 5speed manual from a Laser, in my youth I thought it would be a good idea to try and beat a great of GTi of the line and ...

Re: Type 9 (N) gearbox lock up
Right , just a quick update, see if this guides anyone a bit nearer to solving my issue. It is currently stuck in 5th gear , although I can get it into neutral , but it will not come back across the gate, so I can select reverse, thus enabling me to drive the pin out of the rear on the gear selector...

Re: Fan belts from Tickover
Yeah loosened off completely...It was seized , and snapped a lower collared bolt getting it off, but everything freed off and the alternator taps up against the block quite easily . .
The old belt is quite Knackered ... lost more teeth than Nobby Stiles ...

Re: Fan belts from Tickover
Yeah the one I ordered was the 6263MC, and on their site (Tickover) it lists it as being suitable for both 1.6 & 2.0 . The one currently on is a Quinton Hazel 914. Might just have to put it on the rack and pre stretch it  . If it still won't go on I may just have to get a slightly longer on...

Fan belts from Tickover
I have just taken my first delivery from Tickover and the fan belts are branded Gates. Now I don't have a problem with that , someone has to make them and the quality is good by the look and feel of it. But ....I am sure it is way too short ... or is it me being a bit slow for want of a better way o...

Doesn't everyone love a bargain !!!
Recently on the hunt for a manual , after a little bit of hunting and evil bay trawling , I found one in very very good condition .
Price £3.00 including postage ....OK only a small bargain , but a bargain is a bargain .

Newbeeeee .....engine size change 1.6 to2.0
Hi everyone , I have just bought a 2.0 Laser 85. Used to own one over 30 yrs ago and just had to have another. The one I have bought has a 2.0 engine but registered as a 1.6 so presuming it has a swap out at some time. I know the rear drums are smaller (8 inch as opposed to 9 inch) will this be an i...
