I think the reason people worry about the steering lock is because, back in the day, thieves had no trouble whatsoever breaking it?

The whole ignition switch/lock assy is cast shit metal bolted to the stem with two bolts. Just give the key hole area a swift heel of your boot and they snap off . Also dead easy to yank the barrel of the lock out .
