Hammerite products

Post by Mr B »

Hi everyone,

Not sure if it'll be of any interest to anyone but did you know that Hammerite have now discontinued their whole line of products?

What - you mean they`ve ceased trading kind of discontinued??? That`s a bit of a blow, they`ve been my `go-to` brand for paints since I was a kid!

Edit: yes I`ve just seen that on internet citing environmental compliance issues, yet the website is still offering everything as normal. WTF as they say?

Hi mate,

I only discovered it when searching for Hammerite products on the Halfords website and no products could be found

Yes, just looked there myself.... they also no longer list Waxoyl in any form, though this may be just that Halfords get more mark-up on their own branded paints? It seems it MAY have been discontinued in North America (California air?) as all the info I found was 2019/20 and seemed to be from US. Hopefully it`s just that, there seems no mention on Hammerite website, (Bought a tin of smooth black from Amazon, just in case ;) )

Some of the websites I've visited for research published the discontinuation news as far back as 2019. Yet, the official website is still up and running 4 years later. It looks like they found a way to be environmentally compliant.
Call me cynical if you like, but could this have been a publicity stunt or marketing gimmick to boost flagging sales at the time?

Andrew.

Thankfully it seems we`re safe for now. It was certainly a bit of Dynamite, that news.... I`ll get my coat.

I wish they'd discontinued the crappy paint before someone used it all over the underside of my Sierra!
