Gearbox ID tag

hi all can you id a gearbox from the tag?

i have got a Ford Capri 1600 Type 3 gearbox

gearbox tag number: 69eg kb / fob 1e 05

is this a GT model?

I can do it by visual inspection! It's a Type 3, 20 spline 4-speed.
I'm the one that leaves all those shoes in the carriageway.

Hi Tom,
thanks for that info,, also do you know if this is Capri Gt box? the tag shows 69eg kb / fob 1e 05

im guessing 69 is the year unsure cannot find information about the rest.

Hi, it went into loads of things, from Cortinas to Capris (think they went into Lotus Cortinas too) and even Sierras! They really got their money's worth out of it.

I have one in the shed. Great box for a four speed conversion, really nice tight gear selection, but a different friction plate is needed, along with front half of the old prop (at least for me, iirc the rear of the original prop did not fit the Atlas axle bolt pattern) and modified crossmember.. although finding a gear lever for them is wierdly hard, no idea why, makes no sense but they are incredibly rare :headscratch:

I'll have a word with my mate and see if he can identify what model it came from.

I did break a used Type 3, but it only cost 99p. Ahh happy days!
