Coolant boils, there is an exhaust smell in the interior
Hello, I have a Capri that is currently having radiator problems. It heats up very quickly and then the coolant flows out of the overflow, if the radiator cap is left open the water boils, all the tubes heat up, along with the coolant bubbles and turns dark brown grey. Exhaust is definitely getting inside, the exhaust and manifold are definitely tight and I don't know where it could be coming from. Thanks.

Sounds like a head gasket has failed. You can get it tested with a kit most garages have.
Not to bad a job but get the heads checked and machined flat while off.
Personally if I was having the heads off if they have not been off before I would also get the valve stem oil seals replaced and guides checked.

When you say an exhaust smell inside the car, is the car currently stripped out or running? If stripped out then yes it will stink and not much you could probably do about it, if kitted out then am a bit puzzled
Are you sure there are definitely no leaks anywhere on the exhaust or that there are no holes in it at all?
Could be that there is a hole or gap further back on the system rather than just manifold

Have a look at the spark plugs , one may be cleaner than the others , this would indicate coolant getting into the combustion chamber ,but this doesnt always happen ( piston tops clean up too ......if you can see them )
Sometimes I talk to myself ... and we both have a good laugh

I have no idea but are these engines already able to run on Unleaded? If not get that done while in the machine shop having them skimmed.
Don't be tempted to just put them back on with a new gasket, will probably be ok for a while but it will probably go again in a few months.
