Cluster regulator

Post by ARCHP »

Hello, anyone know where I can get a replacement or equivalent for this regulator. I’ve googled without much luck. Thanks

Is this the voltage regulator that can be resoonsible for the fuel gauge showing a higher reading with the lights on?

yep , thats the one Tom , although I would verify a decent earth to the instrument cluster , partly because the instrument lights will use the same earth . See if you cant get one meter probe on the neg batt terminal and other one on the copper earth strip on that printed circut on the instrument cluster . Know how to do a volt drop test ?.
My fuel gauge only ever got to a bit over 3/4 when overflowing full.... but it was real economical at tother end , after the needle had passed the bottom of the red area I got another 100 miles . I drove round with a spare gerry can in the boot till it ran out :)

The club also do a replacement. You have to solder the connectors on to the circuit board though. I did it and seems fine.

I fitted one of these https://spiyda.com/instrument-voltage-s ... r-kit.html, I even fitted it inside the existing case. It works well.

If you can solder, the actual regulator in above kit is only a quid or so, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/386163774034 ... R6Suqp39Yg
(This 7805 also fits the later type Mk2 regulator. There was a post some time back about fitting that if anyone`s interested. www.capriclub2000.co.uk/help-info/fix-f ... mp-gauges/)
