Post by tony280 »

Car wouldn't start, changed a few bits still no good, tries to fire
Changed fuel and filter

Previously a runner?

If its trying to start then presumably there is a spark and some fuel getting through. If it has not been used in a while then I would suspect the central plunger in the metering head is stuck but also worth checking the gauze under the larger banjo connection on the warm up regulator isn't blocked.

Yes was a runner, started spot on
Have checked wur, have spark
Did mesh with mixture I know I shouldn't have
Thought low on fuel so drained it and fresh ib

When the engine is properly cold disconnect the 7th injector at the plenum end, pop it in a jar and crank the engine. Fuel should come through OK. If not then check the fuel pump, you should hear it whirr anyway just turning the ignition one click.

Presumably ignition timing is all properly set.

recently had this with a Rover SD1 EFi - it was a blocked fuel filter.

Hmmm... That mixture screw is very sensitive, half a turn either direction will throw your mixtures right off. How far did you turn it and which direction?
What was the few bits you changed?
