I think this has worked out actually. In brief I cut the pipe as close to the caliper as I could, replaced the caliper and put a new flare on the pipe in situ and it seems to have gone well. I bought a new flare tool of the proper DIN spec and the quality of flare when compared to the cheaper clamp type is world's apart. Was tricky adding and re-bending such a small pipe whilst on the car but seems ok. And I just clamped the brake hose as usual.Thanks for the replies.
