My first boss. Known to us all as 'Auntie Betty'.
With RAF Marham being so close to Sandringham we saw a lot of her.
I don't know if anyone will ever truly comprehend the sacrifices she made to serve her country............to serve all of us.................for so long.
Goodbye ma'am, and thank you. :(

Indeed a sad day. She has been a constant to look up to throughout most people's lives, whether you are a monarchist like me or not. King Charles will never fill her position but I sure hope he will have a good go at being a good King with "Queen" Camilla at his side.

RIP Elizabeth, gone but never forgotten.

She was so incredibly faultless, throughout all of those long years. The perfect monarch, can't imagine there has ever, or will ever, be another like her.

I was watching His Majesty King Charles III doing that impromptu meet and greet with well-wishers outside Buckingham Palace. Considering the loss of his Mother was only yesterday, it's amazing how composed and dignified he was. I think, once we've come to terms with the loss of The Queen, he will be as well respected and beloved as she was. Yesterday I was thinking that this nation will never be the same again, but now I'm a bit more confident that we'll be alright.

A controversial suggestion I'm sure, but I'm pretty certain our King has the right person beside him to make this work. No histrionics, no clamouring for attention, just head down, suck up the negative press and go to bed each night knowing you've done a bloody good job.
I'll raise what is probably a lonely glass to our new Queen Consort.

I wonder if Diana will be waiting with open arms...

I appreciate your sentiment. Thank you.
But no military person would kneel for this!
We would stand rigidly, immovably to attention, with heads bowed, as a final mark of respect to 'the boss'.

Not 'my boss' I'm afraid.
