wide tyres for 13" wheels

Post by dean gay »

Does anyone know where i can lay my hands on any 215/60/13, 225/6013 or 235/60/13 tyres, the only ones I can find larger than the standard 205/60/13 appear to be rally spec and not really suited or even legal for road use

Do these sizes even exist any more? I dont know what to do with my X pack which has 8" wide compomotives on the rear and needs an mot?

Cheers

Do BFGoodrich still make 13" tyres in that size? I know they used to

Hi mate,

Try Northants tyres in Aldershot, if they don't have them they might be able to point you in the right direction.

It is getting silly trying to find good 13s. It's the only reason I bought 14" wheels.

:agree:

There are a lot more products available for 14's including raised white letter BF Goodrich

There must be a significant gap in the market for 13s. Quite surprised it hasnt been filled considering it keeps so many cars original.

Well yeah , but the sizes asked about by the OP are not run of the mill sizes and would most likely be fitted to modified vehicles from the 70's or 80's that originally had 165 - 185 wide tires . I think now most people see the benefits of larger diameter rims ( bigger brakes ) and thusly that where tire manufacturers put their efforts ( so get with the times man 😁)
Personally I cant see the point of going much wider than 205's for the front and maybe 215's for the rear ( if you have to ) on a road Capri . Anything much bigger coughs up clearance issues and heavy slow speed ( like parking ) steering for little of no gain .
I fitted 205-50-15's on my Escort ( previously had 205-60-13's on a 6" rim ) and the difference was way better .....felt like a different car

Well not if you have an X pack capri with 8" rims that suit the retro look completely!
As I said scrapping the wheels just because I cant get tyres is annoying..........and bad for the planet maybe??
