Great to see another Escort mk3 owner on here. I've had this one for 10 years (5 years longer than my Capri). It's a 1985 1.1 Popular. Your Xr3 looks incredible!

Your car looks great too! Can't believe how small they look now
I remember when the Mk3 came out, it looked so different to anything before and it took me a while to like it. Certainly nothing else on the roads then or now that resembles it

I remember the first time I drove a MK3. I was used to Cortinas and MK1 Cavaliers but I drove this fairly new 1.6GL and couldn't believe how much more powerful it seemed compared to the others.

I have to admit I've never driven a Cortina. Had a Mk1 Cavalier as a loan car once, cost a fortune in petrol!
I owned a X reg Escort 1.6 GL from 1984 to 1986, then Mk1 XR2 before selling that in '87 as deposit on my first house. It was a Marina van then as a
workhorse

Thanks for the positive comments! I've put some NOS bumper inserts on it since this event as one wasn't up to standard
The organiser told me about 125 cars didn't turn up on the day, and I know at least a handfull of those would probably have beaten mine, but they didn't come so i'll have it this time

Funnily enough a mate with a lovely Fiesta Supersport won the award last year but dropped out of the show the day before, so I said if I win i'll look after it for him until next time
