Hi guys
My car says on the log book it was registered in 1984 but I believe it was manufactured in 1983.
How do I evidence this for Road tax purposes.
I’m also trying to locate a Capri Club.
I reside in Rotherham South Yorkshire.
Thanks in advance
How do you find out the year your car was manufactured
Re: How do you find out the year your car was manufactured
You take the 2 letters before the numbers from the chassis number.
Example; WFOAXXGABAFM12345 The manufacture code is FM which translates to March 1985.
Use this to find yours https://www.burtonpower.com/tuning-guid ... dates.html

When this subject came up previously, I believe it was discovered that a car doesn't become eligible for free tax until the January after it's 40th anniversary. If your car was manufactured in '82 you can enjoy free tax from January 2023. However, I think the DVLA require more proof than Burton's website, you'll have to get written confirmation from the manufacturer.

Hi buddy
It’s looking like it was June 1983.
I’m going to contact DVLA and see what documentation they will need because I’m hoping that if I can get everything in place, I should be able to get free road tax from January 2024.
Thanks once again

Re: How do you find out the year your car was manufactured
In your situation, I don't think you will need documentation as that only really applies if a car was built at least the previous year than it was registered. In your case, as your car was built in '83 and registered in '83 it will be eligible for free tax at the same time (January '24).
Let us know how you get on though.
Andrew.
