Simply Ford 2022. A quick visit...

Post by Taff50ish »

Hi all,

Well, even after my last visit to Simply Ford and having been kept queuing for what seemed like hours, I said I would not go again. Last week end I found myself unexpectedly at a lose end on Sunday morning, so having just realised the night before this was on, I headed off down South!!! I got there about 11AM and the queues were no longer here and I flew in, I was even allowed to park in the show area….

So it was a packed day down there and lots to see, unfortunately there were no stalls as in the past, so this was a bit of a shame, but soon forgotten about as I looked round the Classics on display here, so here we go and I’ve had to work REALLY hard to whittle the photos down as I had a few hundred, so here goes…

Start off with mine!!! Why not???
Image20220522_110947 by jon taylor, on Flickr
Prime parking I recon!!!

So lets keep with the Capri’s for now, there where quite a few!!! Lets kick off with this beauty… Immaculate doesn’t do it justice to be honest… And a cracking motor…
Image20220522_112003 by jon taylor, on Flickr

A V6, 2.6 from across the pond???
Image20220522_112429 by jon taylor, on Flickr
Image20220522_112457 by jon taylor, on Flickr

MKII’s are starting to grow on me more now-a-days….
Image20220522_112741 by jon taylor, on Flickr
Looks amazing sat on those Revolution 4 spokes…

I found this Laser nicely hidden in the shade, it was a sunny hot morning…. I’m still a bit burnt….
Image20220522_113250 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Then another stunning MKI….
Image20220522_113400 by jon taylor, on Flickr
Image20220522_113343 by jon taylor, on Flickr
I think this is what some people call the inferior face lift MKI. Not in my eyes though!!!

If memory serves, this was an LS… Great cars!!! One of my friends had one of these in Red back in the 80’s!!!
Image20220522_113741 by jon taylor, on Flickr
Actually yes, an LS, I can see the badge now….
Image20220522_113728 by jon taylor, on Flickr

This looked the Nuts if you want to go racing???
Image20220522_114055 by jon taylor, on Flickr

I do like a Capri in Red….
Image20220522_114130 by jon taylor, on Flickr

But then again, Orange really does just work SO WELL….
Image20220522_114210 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Seen this a few times at Box Hill and The Ace for Capri Day…. Still looking amazing!!!
Image20220522_114224 by jon taylor, on Flickr
I’m sure the Minilites are a recent addition though???
Image20220522_114235 by jon taylor, on Flickr

This look mean, a bit of a fight off for the Orange one here??? Possibly still go for the Orange???
Image20220522_114307 by jon taylor, on Flickr

A really nice Red MKI face lift…
Image20220522_114503 by jon taylor, on Flickr
Image20220522_114521 by jon taylor, on Flickr
Don’t the chrome bumpers just look the Nuts!!!

I remember fitting those Stereo heads to many a Capri. So many I could cry now knowing what I know now!!!
Image20220522_114513 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Stunning. Enough said!!!
Image20220522_115143 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Backed up by this MKI…. There really were some amazingly clean Cappas here…..
Image20220522_114849 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Not sure what these wheels are, but they really did set this Cappa off well!!!
Image20220522_114803 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Another Blue Laser hunting out the shade!!!!
Image20220522_115229 by jon taylor, on Flickr

The last of my Capri’s for the day here and what a way to finish the Capri’s… This really is a stunning motor!!!
Image20220522_122111 by jon taylor, on Flickr
Image20220522_122130 by jon taylor, on Flickr

So onto the inferior Fords then!!!! Only kidding, there where amazing cars everywhere you turned your head…. So we’ll kick off with this little beauty then…
A really nice base MKIII Escort, the first of the dreaded Front Wheel Drive all those years ago!!! Turned out nice though!!!!
Image20220522_111421 by jon taylor, on Flickr

I was going to say the first Sierra, base model, but now I think back this could be an ‘L’, as didn’t the base car have the plastic coloured grill too???
Image20220522_112248 by jon taylor, on Flickr
Which ever model it is, its stunning…. I do remember going to the Motor Show at the NEC when this was released, I came home with tons of brochures, posters, pens, badges, stickers for the Sierra and we all hated it as it was seeing off the Cortina…. How times have changed again!!!!

So talking of times changing for the Sierra, this didn’t harm its appeal and still doesn’t…
Image20220522_111355 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Then the 4 door was released…
Image20220522_111339 by jon taylor, on Flickr
Not 100% convinced this is a Cossie, but amazing never the less!!!!

Now this looks spot on and is immaculate too…
Image20220522_111442 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Its stable mate….
Image20220522_111632 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Image20220522_113801 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Then the import…. XR8???
Image20220522_113110 by jon taylor, on Flickr

A different to the norm Escort MKI, looking great!!!
Image20220522_111512 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Again, more original than all the bling usually found on these now-a-days!!! Stunning…
Image20220522_113314 by jon taylor, on Flickr

So lets see the MKII’s now then. Again I’ve had to whittle these all down to my favorite ones of the day… I hope you agree!!???
Image20220522_111401 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Who doesn’t love a Harrier???
Image20220522_111649 by jon taylor, on Flickr
Image20220522_111637 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Looking good….
Image20220522_111718 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Is this powered by some weird engine someone on here raves about???
Image20220522_112353 by jon taylor, on Flickr
Image20220522_112528 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Nice to see the Square headlights on this for a change!!!
Image20220522_113055 by jon taylor, on Flickr

You just got to love the colour!!!!
Image20220522_113102 by jon taylor, on Flickr

A different take on the green theme!!!
Image20220522_113644 by jon taylor, on Flickr

So keeping with the MKII theme lets look at the RS2000, still got a massive soft spot for these….
Image20220522_114427 by jon taylor, on Flickr

And here is its twin…..
Image20220522_114630 by jon taylor, on Flickr

These just look great in any colour from any angle…
Image20220522_113239 by jon taylor, on Flickr

So onto the next incarnation of this…. The dreaded front wheel drive….
Image20220522_111911 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Some really great cars here I can tell you….
Image20220522_114345 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Or how about a rag top???
Image20220522_113946 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Even the Moredoors were looking stunning….
Image20220522_113206 by jon taylor, on Flickr

I had to get this tucked up in the shade between 2 imposters….
Image20220522_113605 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Well, I think its time for the Cortina’s to come out n play… The MKIII’s though!!!!
Image20220522_114651 by jon taylor, on Flickr

My Dad had one of these in Roman Bronze and I remember thinking it was the bollocks, or I would have done if I knew those words back then!!!!
Image20220522_114216 by jon taylor, on Flickr

These 2 doors really do it…
Image20220522_113048 by jon taylor, on Flickr

But there’s now’t wrong with the 4 doors either…
Image20220522_112933 by jon taylor, on Flickr

We’ll just hit a quick MKV, it just looks so honest….
Image20220522_113814 by jon taylor, on Flickr

A quick cheeky XR2i….
Image20220522_113027 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Now as you may know, I’m not a lover of modern stuff, but I had to get a quick pic of these 2 I think Fiesta’s or the Focus, its too hard to tell the difference and I’m really not too bothered, BUT!!!! You have to admire the dedication here to reproduce the car for the Sprogs!!!! Amazing!!!
Image20220522_112845 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Well, that’s bringing me to the end of this thread, but we need to show the Granny line up!!!! Stunning!!!
Image20220522_112813 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Your last ride????
Image20220522_112820 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Well I was just about to leave as I needed to get back early for the folks. But I spotted this sneaking in….
Image20220522_122825 by jon taylor, on Flickr

Well that’s all for now folks, as I say I took way too many pics, a couple of hundred I think, but these are the stand outs for me at least!!!
I hope you enjoy looking through these, cheers till next time, all the best,

John…

Hi John,
Fantastic cars all round. Some of the Capris look familiar, my favourite is that B reg Special in lacquer red. An absolute stunner !

Ahh John. Great photos mate. Looked a cracking day mate. Bit of a journey to go at a loose end mate
Such a shame the stalls were not there as I know how much you like a good nose about the jumble as do I.!!
But this aside looked like a brilliant selection of classic fords there John and glad your 'loose end' was worth the trip mate. Yours looks as stunning as ever fella 👌👍

Nice pics Jon, thanks for taking the time to do so. I agree with you over the MK2 Capri's, I like them also, they do grow on you the more that you see. And that 'last ride' comment, very poignant, something we shall all have.
