Well, even after my last visit to Simply Ford and having been kept queuing for what seemed like hours, I said I would not go again. Last week end I found myself unexpectedly at a lose end on Sunday morning, so having just realised the night before this was on, I headed off down South!!! I got there about 11AM and the queues were no longer here and I flew in, I was even allowed to park in the show area….
So it was a packed day down there and lots to see, unfortunately there were no stalls as in the past, so this was a bit of a shame, but soon forgotten about as I looked round the Classics on display here, so here we go and I’ve had to work REALLY hard to whittle the photos down as I had a few hundred, so here goes…
Start off with mine!!! Why not???

Prime parking I recon!!!
So lets keep with the Capri’s for now, there where quite a few!!! Lets kick off with this beauty… Immaculate doesn’t do it justice to be honest… And a cracking motor…

A V6, 2.6 from across the pond???

MKII’s are starting to grow on me more now-a-days….

Looks amazing sat on those Revolution 4 spokes…
I found this Laser nicely hidden in the shade, it was a sunny hot morning…. I’m still a bit burnt….

Then another stunning MKI….

I think this is what some people call the inferior face lift MKI. Not in my eyes though!!!
If memory serves, this was an LS… Great cars!!! One of my friends had one of these in Red back in the 80’s!!!

Actually yes, an LS, I can see the badge now….

This looked the Nuts if you want to go racing???

I do like a Capri in Red….

But then again, Orange really does just work SO WELL….

Seen this a few times at Box Hill and The Ace for Capri Day…. Still looking amazing!!!

I’m sure the Minilites are a recent addition though???

This look mean, a bit of a fight off for the Orange one here??? Possibly still go for the Orange???

A really nice Red MKI face lift…

Don’t the chrome bumpers just look the Nuts!!!
I remember fitting those Stereo heads to many a Capri. So many I could cry now knowing what I know now!!!

Stunning. Enough said!!!

Backed up by this MKI…. There really were some amazingly clean Cappas here…..

Not sure what these wheels are, but they really did set this Cappa off well!!!

Another Blue Laser hunting out the shade!!!!

The last of my Capri’s for the day here and what a way to finish the Capri’s… This really is a stunning motor!!!

So onto the inferior Fords then!!!! Only kidding, there where amazing cars everywhere you turned your head…. So we’ll kick off with this little beauty then…
A really nice base MKIII Escort, the first of the dreaded Front Wheel Drive all those years ago!!! Turned out nice though!!!!

I was going to say the first Sierra, base model, but now I think back this could be an ‘L’, as didn’t the base car have the plastic coloured grill too???

Which ever model it is, its stunning…. I do remember going to the Motor Show at the NEC when this was released, I came home with tons of brochures, posters, pens, badges, stickers for the Sierra and we all hated it as it was seeing off the Cortina…. How times have changed again!!!!
So talking of times changing for the Sierra, this didn’t harm its appeal and still doesn’t…

Then the 4 door was released…

Not 100% convinced this is a Cossie, but amazing never the less!!!!
Now this looks spot on and is immaculate too…

Its stable mate….

Then the import…. XR8???

A different to the norm Escort MKI, looking great!!!

Again, more original than all the bling usually found on these now-a-days!!! Stunning…

So lets see the MKII’s now then. Again I’ve had to whittle these all down to my favorite ones of the day… I hope you agree!!???

Who doesn’t love a Harrier???

Looking good….

Is this powered by some weird engine someone on here raves about???

Nice to see the Square headlights on this for a change!!!

You just got to love the colour!!!!

A different take on the green theme!!!

So keeping with the MKII theme lets look at the RS2000, still got a massive soft spot for these….

And here is its twin…..

These just look great in any colour from any angle…

So onto the next incarnation of this…. The dreaded front wheel drive….

Some really great cars here I can tell you….

Or how about a rag top???

Even the Moredoors were looking stunning….

I had to get this tucked up in the shade between 2 imposters….

Well, I think its time for the Cortina’s to come out n play… The MKIII’s though!!!!

My Dad had one of these in Roman Bronze and I remember thinking it was the bollocks, or I would have done if I knew those words back then!!!!

These 2 doors really do it…

But there’s now’t wrong with the 4 doors either…

We’ll just hit a quick MKV, it just looks so honest….

A quick cheeky XR2i….

Now as you may know, I’m not a lover of modern stuff, but I had to get a quick pic of these 2 I think Fiesta’s or the Focus, its too hard to tell the difference and I’m really not too bothered, BUT!!!! You have to admire the dedication here to reproduce the car for the Sprogs!!!! Amazing!!!

Well, that’s bringing me to the end of this thread, but we need to show the Granny line up!!!! Stunning!!!

Your last ride????

Well I was just about to leave as I needed to get back early for the folks. But I spotted this sneaking in….

Well that’s all for now folks, as I say I took way too many pics, a couple of hundred I think, but these are the stand outs for me at least!!!
I hope you enjoy looking through these, cheers till next time, all the best,
John…
