Relay function

Post by brooky »

Hi all, can someone tell me what the relay is for that sits in front of the heater motor, relay is mounted on a small steel plate attached to dash structure under radio. Also what wiring should it have as mine has brown pin 85, black/yellow pin 86 and 2 reds, one of them to pin 87a the other pin 30/51 but this wire is cut so wondered what it should be connected to.

Part number is ford 81ab 15040aa relay, searching parts on line it maybe for original electric aerial but car now has an aftermarket unit so is the cut red wire the original power feed in which case I can just leave it all alone

Hi Mark,
That is indeed the relay for the electric ariel.
I'm not sure about the red wire without looking, but is it the one that connects to the ariel itself?

Andrew.

The red wires are both same size andrew and I would say both power but yes, one may be power in and the other power out to aerial
