Security finally fitted
Hi.
So after a bit of research I recently got some security installed on B112 having none whatsoever apart from the steering wheel disclok and fluffy dice !! So I intrusted the Capri to a local shop called Creative Car Sounds which has a great reputation for installing sound systems and security. He did a fantastic job with a very tidy installation. Siren is tucked away out of sight keeping the engine bay nice and tidy. He said he understands how fussy Classic Car owners are
So he fitted a Cat 1 (alarm/Immobiliser) from a very iconic alarm manufacturer and a Cat 5 Tracker. I know if the thieving c#nts want it bad enough they will still try to steal but these new security devices have some brilliant features nowadays like instant alerts and 24/7 staff monitored tracking centre. . This coupled with the usual visual deterrents just gives me better peace of mind especially after spending so i much on B112
The chap at Creative Car Sounds, Neil, has a bit of a Facebook page going too and he does short videos of the cars he works on and he did this one on mine

HI Nick,
Great video, your car looks as stunning on there as it does in person.
When I saw how much time Neil spent studying the underside, I wondered if that was where he was considering mounting the siren !
Security upgrades are never a bad idea.
Andrew.

Yep id been thinking about fitting some security for a while mate and as I was increasing my agreed valuation with the insurance company it seemed the right time now.
As I keep B112 in a locked garage the security upgrades did not actually decrease my insurance renewal but they logged it dowm that I now had Thatcham Cat setup and they were happy nonetheless. I have to say Footman James have neen very good really. Ive kept them updated all along with the modifications I done and while they have increased the premium its only been by small amounts so considering all the mods what I have had done they have been very fair tbh. They been very fair with me upping the valuation too.
Regarding Neil looking under the Capri this reminds me of ME !!!! I always have a peek under cars and do you remember the first time we met Andrew. Did not take me long to get down on my hands and knees as I could not resist checking out the underside of yours which gave me great inspiration. !
All the best mate

Re: Security finally fitted
When I renewed my insurance last month I enquired if fitting security would reduce the premium, the answer was "sadly not much these days". Apparently thieves are so clever these days they either bypass the security or arrive with a low loader and high Vis jacket. I was also warned if it can be proved you have not switched the alarm/immobiliser on you are not covered. Apparently the best deterrent is a Disklok with the wheels at an angle but apparently even these can be removed with an angle grinder.
They also presume that all cars are fitted with a tracker so look in the place's where they are fitted and put the tracker in the hedge.
Sadly if a thief wants your car they are going to have it.
On the plus most of the scroats stealing cars are after high end modern vehicles that will be broken for spares or put in a container in a few hours on to other shore's.

Insurance is a big rip off! If you don't claim you shouldn't face yearly increase in premium. But we all know we pay for Joe Bloggs claim down the roadSCP440 wrote: βMon Apr 01, 2024 9:14 am When I renewed my insurance last month I enquired if fitting security would reduce the premium, the answer was "sadly not much these days". All the visual detterents like disklok, wheel clamp etc will do is slow down anyone that wants the car, sadly if desperate enough they will have it
Re: Security finally fitted
Well you could Paul but you'd be wrong
And don't get me started on petrol prices! Local Esso garage yesterday was just under Β£1.70 litre for E5 About 25p litre more than E10

Re: Security finally fitted
That is also how I see it. However, I do believe that we should add as much security as possible to protect our cars. Hopefully that will be enough to make the thieves look elsewhere.
Andrew.

Hehe lucky I'm not willing to argue then Yes petrol prices are gigantic, I can only see them getting worse as EV becomes more relevant.
