Replacement Door seals advice

Post by ESSEXV6ESSEX »

Hi folks,

Are Capri Club International mitred door seals any good or are east kent trim better? Any advice and experience would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hi Mark,
I can't say for sure, but I would imagine that CCI get their seals from East Kent anyway.
You may have read reports that the new seals make it difficult to close the door without slamming it hard. John had this issue and I believe that he solved the problem by drilling some small holes on the inside edge of the rubber to allow the air to escape.
there was a post on here about it some time ago.

Cheers Andrew much appreciated. Yeah I had heard that, Steve said the same thing that's how to solve it. I bought some a while back when the restoration started but it pulled the door so far out of line I Darenth use them. I think modern seals on cars have holes in them actually, clearly for this reason. CCi ones are ordered so I will keep people posted.

I tend to use MK1/MK2 Escort seals now especially of the cars with the thicker cards. The seals are not mitred but they are slightly thinner so you don't have to slam the doors .
I usually find that the CCI ones work on cars with the thinner cards although I always put some holes in the rubber so that the air can escape.
