Obviously, in this case the bidders are onto them, but anybody looking to buy a car should be extremely careful with Ebay lsitings.

I agree Andy, ebay must surely be able to act. I think it's safety in numbers for the scammers though, I don't know how many staff ebay have, but there must be millions of listings worldwide, it must be incredibly difficult to sift through the rubbish.

If Ebay brought in an upfront £10 fee through PayPal to post every listing but it was refunded when listing ended or sold, that would stop these morons from posting 2000 ads.

Wouldn't the morons look to hack into somebody's Paypal account in the same way that they hack into dormant Ebay accounts?
