Hi all! Does anyone know of alternative rear seat belt reels and straps/stalks that fit the mk3? I cant seem to find them (ebay has had the odd ones but they seem expensive for a mouldy old belt!)
Has anyone found an alternative? Does their orientation matter?
Mine is an 85 but didnt come with them from the factory and i would like to get them fitted...
Thanks,
Nat.

Re: rear seat belts mk3
Because of the same sort of cost issues and the likelihood of them being used was remote I put fixed ones in the back of the 2.8. I appreciate that it doesn't help if you really want reels but it was a lot cheaper even a few years ago. Could be an option?Supercharged Nat wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 5:26 pm Hi all! Orientation is the biggest issue.
They have to sit at exactly the right angle to unlock.
Is it an option to pick up an old set and get new belt material fitted?

Previously I just got something like this
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174210786130 ... SwO3pe6nuB
Appreciate it still isn't cheap but is at least new rather than old and mouldy!

I don't think that's a bad price at all.D366Y wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 11:34 am Previously I just got something like this

I guess you bolt it up tight then adjust it until it locks/retracts correctly.

It's not a bad price for what it is, but I also wouldn't say it was cheap haha
Yeah I bolted mine in sort of loosely, continued to adjust it so it would work as it should, then got a torque wrench on it and tightened it up to the specs suggested in Haynes

I took the damn things out of mine. I don't forsee anyone riding in the back so as they were knackered and locking up they went rather than me having grief at MOT time.

Watch out for the postage costs, they are known to stick a load on.
