Paul I seen Andys Auto Body which couid be a possibility too but not heard of anyone actually using him which kinda makes you wonder, so whilst its a very sad loss re Tickover its not all doom and gloom. I seen another couple of possibilities too.

Hi Nick,

You need wonder no more, Andy's Autobody restored my late father's 3 Litre Capri Ghia and what a job he made of it, this man absolutely hates rust with a passion, my dad's car was in a bad way with corrosion in the usual places and then some, the car was painted in black and the end result was simply stunning, so for bodywork I highly recommend this man, I'm not 100% sure that he does mechanical stuff although he does remove all those items when restoring customers cars so worth giving him a call I reckon.

Hi Wayne,

This is brilliant mate !!! Reading back what i wrote it looked like i was putting Andy down which was not my intention at all, and I tried to edit it but was too late  as i just really have not heard of anyone who has used him apart from Drew Pritchard

So its great to finally hear someone who has !!! . Thanks for your post Wayne. Does sound like when it comes to bodywork he really is top quality from the work he did on your Dads capri. I reckon he prob does mechanical side of things too if he strips them down so its brilliant as said to finally get a heads up. Deffo a possibility and not a million miles from me either.

Thanks Wayne πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Also Nick, in the Club magazine he does boast 'formerly of Tickover' on his ad, which would imply that he has the same ethics as his former company.

Hi Nick,

It didn't even go through my mind that you was having a dig at Andy- after reading your posts on various threads it just doesn't seem to be your style mate.

I won't lie my dad's car cost a fortune to restore, she needed: a new roof, new outer cills, front panel, 2 modern doors which had to look like 1978 doors- locks in the handle, major repair to the bonnet along the front, 2 wheel arches, major repairs to A and B pillars, various under bonnet areas, rear boot rubber lip disintegrated upon removing the rubber seal, tear drop window lips also fell apart removing the rubbers and that's just the tip of the iceberg, Andy took photos of the whole restoration and sent pics when any new issues were discovered- I used to dread his messages when they appeared on my phone!

So it did cost a fortune but it was my dad's pride and joy and when I look at it that way it feels like it cost nothing at all to still have a part of my Dad here with me.

Nick, if you're willing to travel a million miles to find a garage, I have found this place that's right up your street. It's only 225,623 miles away from earth ! :) About the same distance I am from Tickover.

Their workshop will be sorely missed

What about Andy's Auto Body Nick, he is from Tickover isn't he, I assume he isn't too far away also, doesn't he also do the mechanics?
Yes I am formerly from tickover running their body shop for 11 years , have been running my own restoration company for over 10 years , Andys auto body is in Rochester, Kent so only about 15-20 mins from where tickover is situated in Dartford.
Yes we do offer mechanical work, servicing etc as well as the bodywork side of things.

Hi Wayne.

Mate your Dads Capri sounds a very special car indeed for so many reasons . Its so lovely you feel you still have a part of your dad with you. Andy done an amazing job with it from the list of the many issues and I bet your Dad was well happy how his pride and joy had been restored so well.

Wayne its only a "fortune" to those who dont get it. :)

All the best fella

I won't miss Tickover.

Took my Capri down to them in the early 90's to do a repair job on my strut tops.
When I came to collect my car, it had been pushed into a corner and was covered in crap. I'd actually cleaned my car prior to taking it to them.

On inspection on the required work, the strut top plates hadn't been fitted properly. To the point you could get your little finger under the section that drops down into the engine bay. They had also broken my windscreen but didn't say anything about it. I knew it had been changed as my previous windscreen had had my Reg no etched on.

To finally cap it off my car then had overspray, obviously from another resto job within the site. Plus there was welding splats on my passenger door glass.

When I raised all of these issues, I was told to F@#K off and take your motor.

That left such a very bad taste in my mouth. I resolved never to use them again.

So I can't say I'll miss that company. It's a pity they didn't close sooner.. RANT OVER :wank: !!!!
