Chelsea Cruise & Black Swan. June 2021...

Post by Taff50ish »

Hi all,

Well, its been a long time coming, but we are finally getting some meets to get out to!!! So last week I got down to the Chelsea Cruise 46th Anniversary, which was brilliant, I got there quite early on though and left quite early too, but I even managed to park up in the Park!!! I followed a cracking Black XR2 in... here we go...

So this was followed by a little walk round and I did thoroughly enjoy myself... This was too long coming!!! So here are just a few of the brilliant motors which were there early doors....
So I got into a mini, Mini line up...

So, the weather was still very hot and I had brought my Dad with me as he's visiting currently. But the heat was a bit too much, so we headed off after too short-a-time... But I still thoroughly enjoyed this and I'll defo be going back again. It is many years since I went to the Chelsea Bridge, in fact the last time, was probably on the bikes on a Friday night??? :o :o :o

So then, onto this Sunday morning, up before the Sun and threw a bucket at the Cappa and headed off to the Black Swan. I'm so glad I did, as what a meet / show this truly is!!!! Blown Away with this. Well set up, loads of guides to help the traffic and a Massive field to park in, which they need the amount of motors that were there. This really was for everyone, there was a full spectrum of cars here, so I only have a few pics again as my dad started to overheat and his new knee got a full test out on the field!!!! Oops!!!! Anyhow, enjoy the pics I have here. I really enjoyed taking all these...
So I'll start with myself this time, then follow up with a few more Capri's then I'll go random... Cheers...

Hi John,
What a glorious way to spend the weekend! As you say, it's great that some events are beginning to be organised again.
Lots of fab cars amongst your photos, although one of them steals both shows..... :D :D

Sorry to be a car bore, but you're right, TYU333S was at Brooklands (seems like a looong time ago now) and didn't have minilites then.

I hope that your Dad has recovered now, I'm sure a ride in your gorgeous Capri was enough to make him forget any discomfort !

Thanks for posting so many wonderful photos, I really enjoyed looking through them.

Andrew.

Great pics John was a lovely weekend for it

Missing the shows now, most have been cancelled around here and with the uncertainty I can see more being cancelled too. Hopefully 2022 will be back to normal but I won't hold my breath :?

So that clarifies the mystery of who owns OLE. I took my Capri to the Black Swan yesterday. It’s the first show I’ve taken the car to since 2019 and, my goodness, didn’t it feel wonderful to be going somewhere with a purpose instead of driving aimlessly round at weekends just to keep the car running! I wandered round the field looking in particular for other Capris. Spotted OLE in the middle and almost came over to introduce myself and find out who she belonged to.

You will see TYU all over the place. The car belongs to a fellow Surrey Capri Club member and he’s very enthusiastic about car shows.

Can’t agree with you more about the excellent way the event was organised. Been thinking of going to the Black Swan for some time but never got round to it and I was very favourably impressed. A great place to meet your mates and other enthusiasts. Unfortunately I was finding it a bit hot and there was nowhere to hide so I left somewhat early.

Awesome pictures, those wide-arched MK2 Escorts are amazing.
I'm the one who leaves all those shoes in the carriageway.
