Mk3 rear wiper wires
Hi, while checking why rear wiper doesn't work I found a black wire not connected. 3 wires, obvious earth, one black wire through left strut, but as other black wire is not connected I don't know where it should go. Any ideas? It's corroded on the end of wire but can't see anything it could go to.

Currently full up and no more space but I still want a 2.8... - Location: Buckinghamshire

If it's through the strut could it be the heated rear window?

Hi,
If you`re talking about the motor itself, there are 2 power wires, one from the switch (which just moves it out of the `parking area`) then another which takes over and powers it through the rest (99%) of its arc. Thus if you switch it on then off, it will start (on), travel through arc, but when it gets back to `parking area`, (which is now off) it will stop there If that makes sense? THe main, continuous, power lead goes through the LH strut, the switched power goes through the contact `pad` on LH underside of tailgate: this connects with the corresponding spring loaded terminal on the body. That will be your problem, I`d guess your orphaned wire should be going to the tailgate terminal. As Danny says, the HRS goes through the RH strut.

Thanks. That explains why I couldn't find connection. I have a rusted hole in tailgate where the contact should be. Cheers
Re: Mk3 rear wiper wires
Thanks for taking the time to reply. Hope you get it sorted.

Hi, I am missing both parts of this in your pictures. Previous owner just covered holes with black tape. Do you know where I can get them from?

Your best bet would be Martin at Caprigear: Tel: +44 (0)1507 343148 (workshop) He should have anything you need.
