Re: WD-40
Great test results, thanks Steve and Jason.
I'm going to get some, as stated, it would be ideal for spraying on brake pipe ferrules, the coiled bit of the handbrake cable etc.
Andrew.

Oh well will give it a go, can't be alot different to WD40 which I needed to get sooner or later!
Re: WD-40
Yes sorry Andy - it was mentioned by Jason waaaay back on page 3, & it IS actually the `Rust Blocker` Andrew`s linked to (thanks!) although the `One` stuff is really useful as a WD40 general lube/ penetrating oil, I use that myself too. Sorry for any confusion.

Re: WD-40
Andy I use both , it’s such good stuff they do a clear coat one that’s rust blocker as well , I have never used that one . But I use the multipurpose for everything locks , lawn mower , hedge cutter on the blades .
A guy who is in to restoring church clocks uses both on the out side gearing and it stops the water & dirt where WD40 pulls in the dirt .

The rust blocker you posted https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132128311290 ... SwGyZd-5jV Is the same seller that I bought from anyway

Re: WD-40
Was pleasantly surprised to see this thread resurrected, thank you Steve, but shocked so see I started it a year and a half ago! Great to see one of your patented (and always very worthwhile) experiments too. Is this stuff permanent, in the same way that a clear laquer is for instance, or can you wipe it off if desired?
Re: WD-40
Paul,
it`s not like a paint, although it does `set` to be dry to the touch, and quite resilient, I`m sure it would wipe off with white spirit. I`ve used it on the bottom edges of the sills on Uno, left it to dry for a few days then overpainted with waxoyl underseal. See how that goes.
I did see somewhere that you can actually wipe off the excess and it will still protect (apparently bikers use it a lot, chrome etc)

Re: WD-40
Thanks Steve, yes I love that Underbody Seal too, a few people seem to call it Waxoyl, although it does contain that I know. That Fiat will live forever, in the event of a nuclear war, two things shall remain, cockroaches and that Uno!
Re: WD-40
My ancient tin is, I think, branded `waxoyl underseal`. Think at thast time it was made by a company called Finnigans? It`s the only one which doesn`t seem to dry out and crack. It`s kept the Fiat(s) alive!

I meant to write "when the wind", by the way, not "when the when".
Why is it that, ninety nine times out of one hundred, autocorrect actually manages to autoincorrect? I must spend hours checking over and correcting text that was right in the first place. Some autoincorrections still slip through the net though !

Re: WD-40
Isn't finnigans the same outfit that makes hammerite ? ,Just sounds familiar thats all.
I had a Fiat 132 , couldnt believe just how bad and where it rusted. When we decided to wreak it we tried to cut the roof off to make a convertable but then we couldnt open the front doors and when we levered them open the car collapsed , folded at the bottom of the A pillars . We had been using it as a piss wagon , rally driving around various forestry roads ( man that engine could rev ) we eventually buggered the gearbox when a large rock hit the drive shaft front yoke and pulled the main shaft out about an inch and 3rd /4th gear syncro hub came off the front of the main shaft leaving us with 2nd gear only .
Good times
Sometimes I talk to myself ... and we both have a good laugh
