1986 Mk3 Capri

Post by futurexpack »

Hey guys, starting a thread on my build some of ye might have seen pics on facebook, its an 86 mk3 capri few rusty bits on it and few botch repairs also, the plan is to strip to bare shell and build a X pack with a 3ltr V6 Essex, not original I know but I really think they look stunning, any advise is greatly appreciated thanks

Original Car- 1986 Capri Mk3 2.0 Pinto 5 speed box ,Botched mk3 escort seats (welded in place carpet burned), poor rust repair consisting of newspaper fibreglass and isopon,

Future intentions :-) - Full bare shell strip down, proper rust removal, cut out rust-fabricate replacement panel and weld in, fully seal shell, etch prime, fit x pack kit, etch prime again, prep for paint, paint in black this time, repair and re-tape full loom, fit new loom, rebuild 3.0 v6 Essex, check gearbox, modify rear axle, ill leave it at that for the mo :-)

Looks like its gonna be fun, i just come out the other end of lots of Capri welding and rust removal.
The mad thing is i know in future i will need to do things again. but i just want to be able to enjoy until then.

The x-pack always look good, good luck with the build. I wouldn't be worried about upsetting anyone about cutting up a capri to make x-pack and change engine, there loads of us at it.
Just means the few original cars left, will start to be worth even more of a fortune :)
Plans have changed to just make a good fun Track Car :)

Cheers Will, ya lots to do but looking forward to it, I have a fierce attention to detail so it will be a long process :-) ya I bought the car driving for 2k so cant complain, I didn't want to modify a mint Capri so that's why I went for this one
