Hi,
I like the sound of that meet! :D
Your car looks great as always. Not a week goes by without you improving it in some way, it's great that it's so cherished.

All the best,
Andrew.

Thank you as you can see i'm slowly but surely trying to make it perfect , next big project is to get the vinyl roof done and the seats re-upholstered , see if the engine has a Steel timing gear or not if so i will put one in it , i've been told you can see the timing gear if you take the mechanical fuel pump off??? and change the valve stem seals which will hopefully reduce the oil consumption , it doesn't burn a whole lot it only smokes when it's idling and still cold or on hard acceleration , then electronic ignition and replace the front bumper and left headlamp , one of the bumper overriders , paint the rocker covers and clean the engine bay , it's a long list but i hope to have it done in 2 years time ??

Even though we've only met about 3 times i've already pretty much become friends with the owner of this Fiesta
Image
The previous owners were moronic enough to just directly spray over the old paint and so now it's just chipping off

Today i changed the oil in the Capri with a new filter and some Shell Helix HX3 20w50 , this oil is supposed to be specially made for older engine types with high mileage and cars equipped with a carburetor so this would be perfect for my Capri

Anyway i've now changed the sway bar bushings with the poly ones i bought ( exhausting job ) and , a couple of days ago i was changing the points and condensor i also got from Motomobil in germany , gapped the points and that was ready , then i prceded to change the plugs which were a Little dirty and a few years old for some new ones i got from myy local Ford dealership , as i was getting ready to leave i popped the distributor cap back on and noticed something strange , i got my lamp and i discovered the cap had 2 cracks on it , if you go back on this thread a few pages you'll see a few months back i was dealing with some ignition trouble and i changed the cap , it's only been 4 months since i put it on iirc, what could have caused it to crack like this?, cant be heat since the coolant is almost brand new and the radiator i have on it cools so well the temp gauge never goes above 1/4 of the way up :headscratch: , i've put the original cap back on which is 15 years old and i went for a quick drive on the motorway late at night to test it and the car ran much better and would do 150 Km/h ( 90 Mph ) effortlessly , i hope i don't get a ticket
( I hope you can see the cracks in the pictures )

Hi,
Another great show, and what a fantastic selection of cars. I'll take the Lamborghini Urraco. :D

I can't believe that your car has done over 300,000 miles, it looks as good as new.

The Urraco sounded great maybe needed carb tuning since it was spewing out black soot out the exhaust , and if you consider my Capri has been to Finland and back over 15 times it's not that hard to believe it has over 300k , the car overall looks good but actually needs replacing of quite a few things :
Front bumper ( hard to find )
Driver's side exhaust pipe ( LHD )
Driver's side headlamp
TCAs'
Clutch?
Valve stem seals
Passenger's side chrome exhaust ornament ( incredibly hard to find )
Vinyl roof
Interior needs re-upholstering
Propshaft bushing?
Diff gasket has leaking a tiby bit
Underseal
Engine bay needs cleaning
Other problems :
Brakes squeal
clunking nosie when turning hard to left or right ( what could cause this? ) :headscratch:
Engine for some reason sounds tappety or rattly even with the right oil and valve clearances but has run great like that for who knows how long :headscratch:
Shifter becomes stubborn when the engine and gearbox are warmed up
It's a long list but i hope to get at least the TCAs' , interior and vinyl roof done this winter
This car is a money pit but i love it

Thought i'd make an update after so long.
Since June 2016 i have fixed the rust under the heater bubble sound deadening and changed the brake hoses.
I went on a 500 Km ish road trip to Andorra in February and the car did not miss a beat.
Image
This year i hope to put a new vinyl roof on the car and buy some new mega expensive Pirelli Cinturato CN36 185/70VR13 tyres, they will look great and even better they are the tyres that the car had when it was new, Pirelli has started making them again but for the not affordable price of £128 ish a tyre :)
