Pattern items are not made as far as I know. Fibreglass items are available I think thru Smith & Deakin.

£500 for a genuine Ford part is actually very generous. Expressed steel still do repro. ones, about £800 once you`ve added the VAT.
(Just a bit too anal even for me, to get one `just in case`....)

To be honest I wanted to find a balance between giving it away and getting too greedy.
Seen plenty go for more than that.
But it's not exactly taking up much room up in the rafters of my garage so if it has to stay there a bit longer so be it.
Re: Genuine NOS Ford Mk3 front valance

Re: Genuine NOS Ford Mk3 front valance
I wish there was someway Magnum or one of the other panel makers could be persuaded to make repro front valances at an affordable price, say £150 - £200 even if it was just a repair part without the top shelf or the part underneath that goes to the crossmember.
With the amount of and state of some of the projects you see for sale plus existing owners who have bodged up ones there must be enough demand around for it to be viable for them to make one. I'd buy two in a flash. I know there's more old Escorts around (and plenty getting crashed in motorsport) but Capris seem to get a raw deal in aftermarket panels in comparison to them.
Does anyone have a clue as to how to approach the panel makers or should it be done involving CCi.?

Re: Genuine NOS Ford Mk3 front valance
Hi,
I think you've made a good point about the availability of panels for Escorts being much better than it is for the Capri. The fact that a lot of Escort Mk1 and 2s are used for rallying creates a market for the replacement panels. There simply isn't the demand for Capri panels to make manufacturing them economically viable for the companies involved.
Andrew.

Re: Genuine NOS Ford Mk3 front valance
I wonder how many valance panels would have to be bulk ordered from a manufacturer in order for the purchase price to be low enough for them to be retailed at £150?
My guess, and that's all it is, would be thousands of items.

Re: Genuine NOS Ford Mk3 front valance
This might be one of those times that Capri's increasing in value could be a good thing. Now they're starting to fetch good money when restored it might make sense for manufacturers to reproduce pattern panels as the demand will be there.
3yrs ago a Laser worth 800quid would more than likely be scrapped if it needed 400quids worth of mot work.
Not now though !
