Re: How much
Ford wise the Fiesta and Focus ST are modern day XR2 and XR3i, and the Focus RS range will probably be the future classics.Jasonmarie wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 11:14 am Yes very true , I had a nice mk1 escort 1300xl two door I wish I had kept I can not see modern cars being kept as classic and now ford have dropped small cars from there range there’s sod all left worth keeping
Nothing new appeals to me, most have too much tech and are so fast they are pretty much unuseable within legal limits.

Re: How much
Not Capri related!
Mid 2021 I had sold the Mustang and was looking for something more basic but still a head turner, so I enquired about this car https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... ord&page=3
After a chat with the seller I made it clear the car was not worth the asking price as many buyers want GL/Ghia etc with a few more options etc, but I was prepared to make a sensible offer and it would go to a good home as all my cars have done. He never called me back after he was so called going to speak with his manager.
Just checked and it's still priced the same I know prices are high for some Fords but models like this are never going to hit record prices so let someone buy it and enjoy it. Cars need to be driven and shown to younger generations to see what we drove and older people who can remember them, not sitting in showrooms for years on end!
Sorry for the rant

Re: How much
Memories are pretty much what it's all about.
Imo, this car would be great in any collection and to be used on sunny days

Re: How much
That sums up most Classics, as a car they are probably only worth a couple of £k or so but they have I want it factor and/or memories that adds the extra. A £20k Capri is never worth that as a car compared with some of the modern stuff you could get for that, but I suspect most would pay that and more if they had the spare cash and it was a one owner imaculate low mileage example. Where it gets silly is the £40k Capri, it might only have a year or so mileage on the clock but most of the parts are 40 years old or more and if you start using it as a car it will probably prove to be unreliable.
There was one of those Escorts in a garage in a house that was sold from a deceased estate locally, low mileage and superfically it looked imaculate. The buyer of the house had no interest in ''that old car'' and it was taken away by a local scrappie. Hopefully he did the right thing.
