On the subject of ultra rare models, an observation quiz.
Can anybody see what's unusual about this Orion?

Is it a wide bodied GARTRAC RWD version? Oh and it's using the 3 door Escort Tub.

Yep!

I believe that a two door Orion was built and sold in Brazil. It was called Verona, but it didn't look like an Orion as such.

A comprehensive answer, well done! Built by Meeke Motorsport in the early 80s and is still being rallied to this day.

I’ve met an awful lot of people who know/knew somebody with an “orange RS” (MK2 Focus that is). Strangely I don’t know a single one!

A good frind who used to work in the motor industy was telling me often one offs are done by engineering teams or by new recruits to see if they can use the parts bin to make something special. His favourite was a Astra Van with a Turbo Calibra engine, everything was off the shelf and from the outside apart from some bigger wheels and GTE seats it looked just like any other Astra Van. A lot of this stuff is sent to the crusher aftermwards but some stuff escapes. His last job before he retired was in Jaguar Land Rover and some of the cars they did were amazing, he was driving a Discovery Sport with a V8 Superchraged engine and over 500hp for several months as they were actually thinking of making it. It wasnt crushed and was sold off to an employee once they had finished with it.
