Rocker Cover - Any Model
I'm after a rocker cover, if anyone has one hanging around, any model of Capri, any condition as it won't be used in a car, it's for rocker box racing, something my local car club does once a year, thought I''d have a go, never done it before. Club does a lot for charity so all in a good cause. Will pay including postage obviously. Thanks.

That sounds like an interesting event and it's all for a good cause.
I don't believe that I've got a spare rocker cover, but I'm not 100% sure.
I'll have a look in the garage loft tomorrow and if I find one you can have it. For free, of course.
Andrew.

Unfortunately I don’t have a spare but how do you race a rocker box top? Fling it as far as you can? Stick it on a roller skate at the top of a hill?

Re: Rocker Cover - Any Model
I looked but, unfortunately, I don't have one.
I did spot this LR one on Ebay for £11.99 if that's any use?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275426957578 ... R66k0fnXYA
It looks racier than a Capri one as it's wider and lower!
Andrew.

Thanks for looking anyway Andrew. I can't just make a racer from any rocker cover, it has to be from the vehicle of your choice, which for me is a Capri of course.
Andy, thanks for the link, will think about that one for sure, can't even find an old one at the autojumbles so looks like it may have to be ebay.

Re: Rocker Cover - Any Model
I can personally vouch that there is likely a whole other Capri in there
Sets of wheels galore and I'm pretty certain a whole other steering rack and some props as well??

It is getting silly now

Re: Rocker Cover - Any Model
Here we are. Early narrow type with a wierd steel plate welded on - extra weight = more momentum, a sure winner

Also these brackets. Are they for HT leads? Don't think I have them on either my old warped one, or my new (Nick's old) one.

That's superb Tom, you're a star. Will send you a PM later.
So true about the extra weight! Winner at the last event filled his with batteries. I already have some wheels and custom paint job in mind, and it shall be named Tom (was also my Dad's name)
All in good fun, and charity, although some take it far too seriously, oiling the wheels and so on right before they race.
Thanks again, you're a good 'un.

Would like to see some pics of the finished article if possible (and your winners trophy of course)

Re: Rocker Cover - Any Model
Thank you Andy. I'm reluctant to put my own pics up these days, but you never know. Apart from 1st place, there are other trophies too. For the overall loser (I've got my eye on that one!), for the 'best dressed', i.e. customised/paint job, and one called the 'Piston Broke' trophy, which is given to the member who's actual classic car has had the worst luck leading up the rocker box race night. Last time for example a Model T owner won that as he had made his way to a local show but just couldn't get the car running to come home, later on he realised that he put the wrong fuel in the car! Previous winner was an MG ower who managed to put the jack head through the radiator as he was lifting the car. It is of course a trophy I definitely don't wish to win.
