Carb issues
Carb issues
So guys bought new carb and since putting it together it has run badly, it is a webber dgav, I have not touched the timing or anything it also does not have the vacum hoses from the breather block to carb on the new one it's just blanked of it's only thing I've changed, I get it runing seems to be fine then I go back to it a day later and it runs bad again?? Any suggestions would be a big help thank you
Re: Carb issues
IIRC the crankcase vent/breather hose goes to the manifold doesn`t it, rather than the carb? The vacuum advance hose goes to the little stub on the carb flange? Have you swapped manifold too?
Re: Carb issues
No same manifold, yes sorry the new carb does not have the stub for one of the pipes that come from manifold, does have the dizzy one still connected tho.

Re: Carb issues
Ah, that`s all the O.E. emissions stuff - normally you just bin all that, all you need are: the thin vac tube, carb to the distributor: the crank vent to manifold; the servo to manifold. The valve in your 3rd pic, for example, is a thermal thing to do with advance sustain valves etc - not needed. Just make sure there are no air leaks and it should be OK. If mixtures out, IIRC the starting point is fully in then unscrew 1.5 turns as an initial setting.
Re: Carb issues
Just so I'm clear and thank you for info and your time the pipe I have put skrew in can I leave it in, I think yr right about mixture skrew thanks for your time! I will ensure no air leaks anywhere
Re: Carb issues
Just looking at it, the black/white cylinder is just a moisture trap that goes in the line from carb to dizzy, I can`t tell where the plugged pipe goes? Your best bet is just to put a tube straight from carb to dizzy, ignore everything else, make sure there are no open pipes to the manifold and you should be OK. Does your carb have a fuel return pipe or is that blanked off?
Re: Carb issues
No fuel return blanked off, yeh will do I'll check all blanked off thank you, the skewed pipe use to go to pic 3 on old carb.
Re: Carb issues
Thanks for that! Really appreciate your help.
