Starteur de la motuer

Post by Major_Tom »

..bonjour. Any good recommendations for starter motors? ECP has two totally different pictures of what it claims to be the same thing, so not too confident about it! Plus I hate ECP for sending me so many incorrect things in the past.

I see what you mean, that is bizarre, one part - 2 entirely different diagrams  Can you not pick up from a local branch: they want the old unit back so you can just compare at the desk? Oh, are they still open?

According to their website, all stores are remaining open during the lockdown, and not just for click and collect.

Andrew,
thanks for checking. I know they were a while back: suppose it is kind of essential.

Just looked on ECP, those 2 pictures appear to be for dimensions only, I don't think they are necessarily the exact part you get.

Measured mine (oo err) compared to the above ECP diagram and its way out.. so tried West Lancs Auto Electrics. They have one, but can't tell me what make it is (?), and just like ECP, they can't show me a picture of the mounting face, the only bit of info you really need to know...... so sod em, getting one of my old Bosch ones reconditioned by a local business.

Best way, although they`re dead easy to `overhaul` you can change brush box/regulator with it in the car and even the bearings are standard sizes at a couple of quid each.

I couldn't even get all the screws out of the fucking thing. Even enlisted the help of my strongest friend ("penis fingers" who mangled my oil pressure fitting  ) but all we did was bend a screwdriver.

I've soaked mine in WD40 every few days for the last month and the only thing I've achieved is getting some impressive blisters on my hand... I should probably go back and try to unscrew the start motor though

Are you talking the long bolts holding body together or the little ones holding the regulator? If the latter, cut the heads off, remove reg. and grab shaft with a mole wrench :o If that fails just drill out & tap.
(I`m only thinking of minimising your costs.)

Yo Tom , koken so not crap , might get it for a few bucks and I would sent it to you ( I spose they work up side down ) . A Kiwi one , youd only need to tip a bit of beer on it and maybe 5 mins with Jasons blow up blondes 😁

Kind offer good sir, but how much would postage be?! More importantly, don't the Kiwi ones turn in the opposite direction?

Postage? yeah there is that , doesn't say wether it's metric or imperial either, sooooo.
Turn the wrong way? Nah ,well yeah ,but nah ......its also up side down mate ,your looking at it from the wrong end , one cancels the other out so its all good , Real easy ,all you gotta do is hold on to it , and give penis fingers the biggest hammer you can find 😂😂
