Peter sellers my favourite and the pink panther films are all time classics . It’s a line I have used myself , “ Does your Dog bite “ No “ dog bites him “ that’s not my dog “ classic .
When my dad took my mum to the dentist to have a tooth removed we used a line from the film “ , he has pulled the wrong tooth “
Love it .

Not you Nick! I would never chastise a man of your standing with such a scathing remark, nor think you capable of such a travesty.
I got into an argument with ITV4 back when I had telly. Suddenly The Sweeney and The Professionals were all in 16:9 (widescreen) but a sretched and weird version that removed the top and bottom of the frame. I explained how this was not only did a disservice to the viewer, as it was all claustrophobic and cramped looking and you couldn't see the whole shot, but also ruins the legacy of a great film making team, for no benefit.
The responses I got just from this most trivial of exchanges, were like something from the start of a Terry Gilliam story.

I know Tom. I was just codding with you my fine and respected friend
Tom I would have loved to have seen the transcripts from your conversations with itv4 mate. Good on you for making them aware of this as yes I totally agree some of these classic shows don't look right on these modern wider TVs nowadays. There are so many settings and adjustments possible on these modern tvs but still sometimes can't get it to look right as as either looks too 'ballooned' or looks too small as only using half the bleedin screenMajor_Tom wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 3:31 am

But Mr Tom I applaud you for trying to get itv4 to see the wicked errors of their ways but methinks I know the general gist of the replies you received from them !
All the best Tom

The latest Blu-Ray (and DVD) releases by Network On Air are in the original 4:3 format, and the overall restoration is really incredible.
