Rear door card hole

Post by Jumper »

Just bought a Mk 3 and the rear door cards have holes just behind the ash trays. Photos on line show some kind of clip - anyone know what these are?

Sounds like the clip to hold rear seta belts when not being used. Belts were only fitted to later Capris and if you have an interior from a later Capri you might have the holes but no belts. Happens a lot if Shark Grey seats from a 2.8 have been fitted in to a lower spec model.

As far as I recall, even if you have belts in the rear (which may have been retro fitted as the mounts were all there), you will not have the metal bit behind the side panel that the clips screwed in to.
I fitted rear belts to a couple of my older ones and modified the side panel by reinforcing it with a biscuit tin lid of all things ( :D ), then fitting the captive nut thingummies into that so it wouldn't just pull through if someone was a bit rough trying to release the belt from its clip.

Think they're horrible looking. Seats give you backache too.
