Capri Indicator bulb holder replacement

Post by CapriFreak »

Someone way before me decided to smooth the front of the Car off and then add some Escort bumpers to the front... all that aside, they also seemed to add what I'm told are 5w side repeaters as indicators. I can tell you nobody can see these things flash when your coming towards them. Now the car is back on the road I really want to change these bulb holders for something that is 21w like a normal indicator. I went to my local auto electrics place and they hadnt got anything to fit (he was a bit confused about the whole matter too)

I feel like for a couple of quid I should be able to: cut these existing bulb holders off, buy some universal/standard bulb holder that will be a million times better, then just place them in these existing bumpers no need to modify anything else right? Im pretty sure someone just cut the original lights off to put these on there for some reason.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm not bothered about original Capri bulb holders as I'm sure the value is triple what they're worth unless anyone has a couple they dont want for a few quid.
I've been looking on sites like this but not really sure what I should buy. Any help is appreciated. https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product_list/81

Got any pix of the blinker mounted , and the new bumper, I mean ,you can hardly expect our artistic inspiration to flow unimpeded if we cant see the canvas :xd: a bit of wire with a bulb on it and a shot of your under side only makes me think of going fishing  . What sort of escort bumper....shorties or the full width one ,and why not fit escort blinkers to said bumpers, they'd probly fit :xd: . LED's seem an obvious update but they seem expensive . What I sometimes do is have a wander around car yards or motorbike shops to see what they have. A look in a heavy transport supplier with truck running lights might see some flush mount led lights. :)

Heres a picture of the front of the Car, let your creativity run wild Mc Tool. I've put 20 watt bulbs in it now for ease.

That does look good ,if ya didnt know ,it looks like factory stuff......well I spose it is . I think that should stay looking like that and I would have done the same with the bigger bulbs. If you have got them properly mounted Id call it job done . Looks good in white and thats saying something as, as a rule I dont really go for white on a car

That looks sweet as, love the quarter bumpers! Are they from a Mk2 escort per chance?

They are. It has a chrome mk1 Capri bumper on the back which I really like but im struggling to match these in. I have a mk3 front bumper but it probably wont fit as its been smoothed off. I toyed with the idea of just chrome on the back, smooth front (stick on plate) and round indicators but for now i'll leave it as it is. I do have a stick on plate that ill fit today which I think will look much better.
